We just got the near-final version of TimeSplitters 2 and it has totally overwhelmed me. Where last year's version was nothing but an engine and a cool level editor, this year's is everything it ever hoped to be and more.
It's more than obvious that some of the creative forces behind Perfect Dark and GoldenEye are a huge part of TimeSplitters 2. There's a ton of design polish here.
We certainly haven't played enough to make a final judgement, but I think of what I've seen thus far anyone who owned GoldenEye and loved it would be stupid and downright idiotic to pass up this game.
It is not some shallow attempt to rehash or mock Rare's past attempts. The game features tight control, a decent story, and is chock full of multiplayer options. It has two-player story co-op, over a dozen multiplayer levels, tons of weapons, etc, etc...
Put this on your wishlist. Preorder if you are a GoldenEye advocate. I guarantee you that if this had the Bond license, everyone would be going wild over it. Look past the new franchise name. TS2 has a lot to offer.
Oh, and did I mention this game has monkeys? Do you really need anymore reason to pre-order?
