Capcom loves Nintendo

"Several of Capcom's high-profile directors have recently let slip lots of hints regarding software that they are currently over-seeing; most of which, Nintendo fans will no doubt be excited to hear, deals with the GameCube.

First and foremost, Shinji Mikami has told Famitsu that he is working on two exclusive projects for the Nintendo GameCube, besides any installments in the Resident Evil series.

Japanese gaming publication Dengeki also got the scoop on some projects at Capcom; Mikami's division is working on an action/adventure game titled Cas-Ra for the GC. The game has already been discussed before, but no details are known about it.

Hiroki Kata, the director of Resident Evil Code: Veronica and a member of Mikami's R&D team also told Dengeki he's working on an exclusive GameCube project. Sources have lead us to believe that this is, in fact, Cas-Ra.

Furthermore, Hideki Kamiya, the "hip cat" who dreamed up Devil May Cry, has also gone on record to say that he has left the direction of Devil May Cry 2 to another individual in his division to work on another exclusive piece of software for the GC. Recently, on Capcom's Official Website, Kamiya dropped hints about a game called "Project Devil" for Nintendo's hardware.

That's a lot of exclusive software from Capcom's new generation of development stars for the GameCube. Thanks to EAD Ninja for the tips, and remember to keep your eyes on GAF when TGS rolls around. We'll have more on these games when the Tokyo Game Show begins on the 20th this month.

First Rockman EXE Transmission screens

"Those kind folks over at the Megaman Outpost have gotten their hands on some scans out of the newest issue of Famitsu, and they contain the first shots of Rockman EXE Transmission on the GameCube.

The Rockman EXE series, so far, has only seen games on the Gameboy Advance. They were released in America under the Megaman Battle Network series, and combine RPG elements with classic MM franchise characters. The ingenuitive battle system, heavy customization, and attractive presentation have managed to make MMBN and its sequel fan favorites among GBA software.

The GameCube version, while obviously upgraded for the next-generation console, looks to follow the example of its predecessors. Graphics will be a mix of 2D, side-scrolling sections and 3D, cel-shaded battles. The two-dimensional levels, which presumably take place in the 'Net, look very similar to Megaman and Megaman X games, though they're much more wide open. It's unknown how much control the player will have over characters in battle, but the visuals do look impressive. It should be great to see some classic MM bosses in 3D, finally.

Rockman EXE Transmission currently has no release date, but you can bet we'll be following this one closely. There hasn't been an announcement whether it will be compatible with the GBA game, Rockman EXE 3, either, but we'll keep our eyes on it. More information about both games should come out of the Tokyo Game Show in a few days, so check back soon.
