Publisher THQ told IGN today that it would release a GameCube version of its anticipated RPG Summoner 2 early next year. The title is already well into development by the firm's Seattle-based development studio Cranky Pants, which is a division dedicated to Nintendo's hardware.
Summoner 2, originally a PS2 game developed by Volition, is a story-driven RPG complete with huge 3D locales spanning multiple islands and seas.

The GCN version will feature all of the following improvements, according to THQ:

Improved texture resolution and color in all environments
Enhanced lighting in all environments
Enhanced character textures for all lead party characters, Iari, Neru, Morbazan, Sangaril, Krobelus
Improved animations for all lead party characters
Higher animation sampling rate (animations look smoother because they play faster)
S3TC Texture Compression (allows you to compress and decompress higher quality textures in smaller memory footprint)
Higher resolution audio FX and Soundtracks (takes advantage of 16MBs audio RAM on GCN)
Hardware supported geometry compression (faster load times)
