Hey guys, I've been trying to find any new and good LAN game. Do any of you fellas suggest a decend multiplayer rpg?

I would go with Neverwinter Nights [NWN] -- for the price you get a lot of game for your buck. It's good for multiplayer in that it has a toolset to create additional modules, a DM client, and a player application.

There are no monthly fees and the Bioware NWN community is solid -- there are literally thousands of custom mods that are out there...

Again for the money -- it's one of the best deals out there. Bioware has also announced they are releasing two expansion paks so the longevity of this game is set in stone.

You could always go with the ever classical Diablo, and Diablo II... and the Diablo II expansion pack. It's an almighty and grand game, though the first was the best. And soon, WoW, AkA World of Warcraft, will be coming out. The online service, Battle.net, is completely free and you can usually find at least 6,000 people online a day per game.

I'm a fan of ultima online, so i'm gonna have to suggest that. A cheaper version pretty much would be a game called Lineage (got that one for free). If you're a "The Sims" fan, get TS online.
(note: all of these require a monthly credit card fee)

Honestly, I like Dark Age Of Camelot (DAOC) the best...much better than EverQuest (EQ). The reason being, it's simply a lot funner, especially because you're enemies with the other continents, and once you hit a certain level, you can team up with other players from your continent, and you need to go steal the artifacts from the enemy continents.

The artifacts don't respawn, so basically, one continent can have all three for however long it takes for another one to either steal it back, or get one from another continent. It's crazy, very challenging, and absolutely one of the funnest games out there.

Oh, and one more thing, you can actually team with other people to train and level your character, which is almost a necessity because it's VERY hard to level up alone. You share exp, but trust me, it's muuuuuuch faster to team.

DAOC is $10 a month to play, which is, I believe, like $2 or $3 less than EQ. Honestly, if you want EverQuest though...wait for EverQuest 2 to come out, it'll be much better. It's up to you though, EQ is preferred by a lot of people, but then again, a lot of people leave EQ for DAOC...and never go back. I think DAOC is far more enjoyable.

Other than that, Neverwinter Nights is very good, and then, the traditional First Person Shooters online are, by far, some of the funnest...but that's not what you're looking for. ^^

Good Luck finding what you want man.

That one word should rule out most multiplayer RPs immediatly. LAN, Local Area Network gaming. So, no DAOC, no EQ and no ŁO.

The two other choices presented there are both good ones, but both of the games are very different. Diablo II and NWN.

Diablo II is far more hack and slash oriented or perhaps simply but it is just hack and slash.

While the normal NWN campaign is very hack and slash as is Diablo II, NWN offers a lot of potential. Other modules have more actual RP in them and if someone is diligent enough and plays as a DM in NWN multiplayer game, an enjoyable gaming session is guaranteed.

Yeah, but honestly, I doubt he REQUIRES LAN games. I'm sure he would have no trouble playing DAoC and EQ...but in case he can only play LAN games, then yeah, SkidiWili is definately correct. Diablo II would be my choice, hack and slash, plus a lot of magic, and the ever competitive Hardcore server makes this game nothing but complete action packed fantasy fun.

NWN is straight up awesome, but mainly on Multiplayer...honestly, I'm not too fond of the single player campaign...

Everquest is the best multi-rpg ever.

I hate paying monthly fees. Thats the good thing about NWN.

Note that he said "RPG", not "First Person Shooter". I could name a thousand of those.

And, yeah, he did say lan.

NWN is worth it, man. 20 bucks for the original, and then two expansions when you get bored of the first one. And you could always decide to spend $50 on the collector's edition.

Neverwinter Nights is the most horrible LAN game around. Those slimy turds made the game to only run on one computer. you need to buy 4 copys of the game to have any fun over lan. I wasted my money when the game first came out.. i even payed more money For NWN than any other game ive bought. only to find out Ive been screwed. If I pay 60 dollars for a stupid game, I should be able to play it over a LAN with my girlfriend using the copy i bought.

O.....k?

No sh*t. You sure are frugal, huh?

Usually....actually, I mean always, unless you BURN a game like Diablo, you need at least two copies of the game to play online with someone else.

Isn't that like....obvious, or something?

Usually games require that you insert the game disk into the CD rom drive. In fact, I can't think of one game that I own that doesn't.

So...I guess that makes all online rpgs horrible lan games, then, huh?

NWN, IMO, has an excellent one-player campaign. Of course, that's my opinion, and no-one else's, it seems. I'm just not a fan of most online servers, where everyone owns your ass except for wizards, because they all have custom equipment, or own the expansions....The RP servers are usually just awkward for me.
