Called shots?

The other night this happened... Was running the group (all 2nd level) through an adventure... When they came across the carrion crawler, our Dwarven Paladin decided he wanted to do a called shot for the crawler's head to try to kill it... He was the last party member not paralyzed... Wound up using a -4 to hit for the called shot... He hit anyway... However, before you start asking what my point is, it's this - Where, if anywhere, are the 3.0 or even 3.5 rules for making a called shot? We poured through the books that night for a bit, and I've been searching quite a bit since then... Only rules for called shots I've found were in a conversion for Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0. to D20... Seems pretty good for the most part, but looking for the "canon" called shot rule....

you didnt find them, because they dont exist.....the only way you are aloud to make a called shot is if you score a critical first. If you score a critical, instead using the crit multiplyer to add extra damage, you can instead make a called chot to head, leg, arm, finger, groin, etc. to do damage to that part of the bodIE, if you kick an orc in the crotch, he is stunned for 1D6 rounds after the hit...also, remember to take into consideration, that unless they have a specific note that they have it or the armor desrpition for it states that they are wearing a helmet or a cap of some type...they only get natural armor, dex, dodge, and deflection bonus's for the head.....

I recently came across a Called Shot feat; I think it is in the Kingdoms Of Kalamar Villain's Handbook, but it might be in one of the Splatbooks. I have never seen the called shot rules referred to above. Where did you get these? :skidude:

Warhook - The Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0. called shot rules? They were from a web conversion I dl'ed from Kazaa... It's a 160k RTF file... If you want, PM me your e-mail addy and I can send it to you...

I believe that the 3rd ed DMG has rules for called shots. But instead of instant kills or dismembermant, it lists effect rules. Such as attacking an enemy's leg reduces its speed, or hitting the arm causes attack modifier negs. I'm not sure on the specifics, but it should be in there somewhere.

Im pretty sure azin is right...I got the rules for attacking certain places in the quintasential fighter put out by mongoose....but thats 3.0.....Im pretty sure its in the DMG for 3.5, but I could be wrong...
