Ok, you know what? Throughout this entire site I see all this talk of all types of Tabletop RPG's from VTM, to D&D, to AD&D, to Mecha games and what not. Though, with all of these in mind, I never see anything said about Rifts. It may be my own opinion but I see Rifts as the most expansive Tabletop RPG out there. I mean litterally, is there anything in Rifts that you can't do? I have been GM'ing Rifts since '91, about when it first arrived into stores. Yet, it is very difficult to find skilled RP'ers or even new RP'ers to discuss it with me. If you have ever heard of Rifts, play Rifts, despise Rifts or just would like to know about Rifts....bring it to this thread. This thread is being made specifically for Rifts topics. Let it spill from your lips like a mouth full of water.
My first question on the topic is simple. Have any of you ever heard of or played Rifts? If so, do any of you currently play Rifts? With that in mind, tell me of your favorite game, or your favorite R.C.C./O.C.C.....

I've never heard of it. Care to elaborate?

I would love to.
You see, Rifts is a tabletop RPG like D&D, Cyberpunk, ect. The difference though is that I have atleast tried every tabletop RPG out there and I have never found one even close to how expansive Rifts is. Rifts takes place far in the future, though unlike other futuristic RPG's, in this one you can choose to be a futuristic character (Body armor, energy weapons, bionic/cybernetic take a look.
Any others?

I can tell you now that i am nowhere near as expansive on this topic as you are as i dont have all of the books. Only currently own the DMs guide, phb for the game, Xitixic Invasion, Juicer Uprising, Free Quebec, Atlantis, and the coalition war campaign. Now, i was brought into table top rpgs about two years ago with DnD 3e and Rifts. Yes, i was one spoiled ****er when i started gaming. From the cheesiness of 3e to the god world that is Rifts. I have to say though, that a friend of mine has mentioned the Quick Flex Alien with the Battle Magus OCC...i think. They play a lot of Rifts as they own almost every single book. I have only recently started my collection over here in Okinawa while im stationed here and getting extra over seas pay. I almost pissed my pants when i saw this thread and was like...HOLY ****!!! A RIFTS THEAD!!!
As for favorites, i have to say even though they are an evil organization, im a big fan of Coalition. More, the Quebec Coalition as i feel their suits look cooler and have a more kickass feel. Granted the new Coalition **** is off the hook, Quebec is still badass.
On the Deebee side, i have to give it to the Mind Melter as far as creepy, but my favorite is the Burster. Nothing beats the Burster RCC. I am not a big fan of fire, but the Burster just calls out my name.
For favorite OOC....Go with the Juicer. Quick life span, but man you can get nasty. The Juicer Uprising is a friend of mines bible, he knows like everyword on every page. Its crazy.
Anyhow, anything else man? If you would run a two man thread on here, id play if you had a story since i think we may be the only two Rifters on here. Granted my knoweledge isnt that great. Oh, and the Rifts novels were great. Sharp is one of my favorite characters along with Darren. Darren is just plain crazy!! Van was kewl too. TW's kick some ass. Man im rambling like a giddy little girl over a cute new kid in school. *Slaps himself*. GET AHOLD OF YOURSELF MAN!
Im out

-Laughs for a moment- I understand how it is to get caught up in Rifts-Talk, man. Though true, you don't have too much knowledge of Rifts, and true you don't have all your facts straight, there is no need for me to correct you. You are well on your way with the knowledge you already have on being a great and skilled Rifter, from what it looks to me. Yeah I have held a few threads in this site dealing with Rifts, but either A: No one joins because they dont know of Rifts, or B: It just gets all screwed up because a majority of people join that don't know what they are talking about. I will give you my word, though, that soon enough I will be making another thread dealing with Rifts.
Coalition.....I can understand why you would like them, their appearance and what not, though...its not the same with me. You know, they just remind me of a bunch of rich and well-supplied Naziis. A major human-supremicist government that enslaves, beats, imprisons and even kills anyone dealing with Magics, Psionics, Mutant/Alien nature and even unregistered Juicer Conversion. In all of my games, whether I am playing or simply GM'ing, I have always been against the Coalition. The players that join in my games often follow my footsteps as well, it being like a bunch of 10 year olds trying to fit in with an 18 year old, so to speak.
Now, my favorite R.C.C.? Hmmm.....at the moment I would have to say Godlings. True, new players and even players that have been in the games for a few years should tend to stay away from this type of race, though me being with this game since day once....I tend to appreciate the nature of Godlings. I like the fact that you can customize and actually choose their natural abilities/special powers yourself, letting the entire flavor of the character be up to you. But no, if I'm a Godling I don't play on Rifts Earth and just ravage towns and what not. I will usually play around the Cosmic Forge, Wormwood and what not, going up against abnormal Demons/Monsters/D-Bees/GM Creations that are sometimes three times more powerfull the Godlings...a damn good game I would say for the night.
My favorite O.C.C. would have to be the Pirate. Not a Space Pirate, just your ordinary Pirate. True, Space Pirates can be fun......call me old fashion if you want, but I will stand my grounds in saying that there is more danger any day of the weak in the water of Rifts then there is in space. I meen, what the hell goes through your mind when you are on a Pirate Ship in the Demon Sea, raiding and boarding to a sea vessel that is right alongside your ship, in the middle of gunfire and explosions all around? Then what goes through your mind when a quarter of a mile long seven headed Hydra pops out of the waters, attacking both of the sea vessels as if they were a tasty treat for the afternoon? Its complete chaos, the most dangerous life and obviously the most action packed, deffinetely a promising O.C.C.
Now, the part that you got mixed up in, my favorite P.C.C. (Basically a Psychic R.C.C., but its own class, like a Mind Melter) is the Psi-Slayer. He is the perfect Assassin, the perfect Bounty Hunter, the perfect Tracker, he is just perfect in so many shapes and forms. True the Mind Melter starts out with more powers, along with gaining them faster. BUT, the Psi-Slayer starts with unique Psionics that NO OTHER Psychic will ever have a chance of using, along with the Psi-Slayer capable of learning Mind Bleeder powers......he's just....perfect.
All in all, no matter how you play it, where you play it or who you play it with, Rifts is AWSOME. Now let me ask you this, what was your favorite (This goes for anyone, or feel free to reply about anything else) campaign that you GM'ed or played in?

My fav. OCC is the Ley Line Walker. I gotta love their strong magic abilities and their skills. But they can be killed easily if they try to open a rift, not knowing what the hell may come out. But I love them all the way! I just started playing Rifts and frankly, I only have the first book. ^^' So I don't know these Psi-Slayers and Godlings and whatnot...But whatever, its the best RPG I ever played asides from D&D. ^^

Aye, Ley Line Walkers ARE deffinetely a powerfull O.C.C. And Meis Truimph, I know you used to play, I was the one that GM'ed for you in the chatroom. Lol, its me, either known as Wild Card or Flip. How goes it? Those were some good times that me, you, Arata, Flamming_Guru and a few others had.....besides that damn chick that would constantly cheat with the dice rolling system so that she would get a constant amount of high-rolls. -Cringes- I took care of her REAL GOOD....lol. But other then that, the adventure the few of you had rolling around with that N.P.C. pack of Juicers, robbing stores and what not, then going to clubs and starting a rucuss just for the hell of it.....it was great.
I've had a lot of good times with everyone I have played with through Rifts, introducing them all to it from day one and teaching them the ropes. Well, there was ONE person that it didn't go well with. He used to come online in this site. His name was Neptus (Lol, I gave him the idea for that name) and man was he a sellout. I had introduced him to Rifts and in less then five months he decides to tell me "Well, I don't think I'm gonna have much time to play in your campaigns anymore with everyone else." I was like "Well why the hell not?" It was then that he decided to tell me "I'm gonna become a GM too, and hold my own games." I told him over and over not to, telling him that if he did his games wouldn't be full-flavored and they would slowly or rapidly sink to the ground...but he didn't listen. So we lost contact with eachother, words were said from us about one another that I shouldn't mention....then I finally hear how his games are, from a man that said "Yeah, I played in his games for a little bit....I played for over a week straight and didn't get into a single fight....it was nothing but completely lame conversations." Well Neptus....I know you are out there, somewhere.....if you are and you are reading this....all I have to say to your pathetic ass is I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!
Anywayz, lol forgive me for my little outburst on the past. Here's another question for any of you. What is your favorite place to visit? Whether it be on Rifts Earth or simply on any planet/dimension, let it flow....lets hear it.

I had the chance to play rifts once and I have to admit it is definitely one of the best games out there. I only had the chance to play a headhunter for very few game sessions (skellabots are evil!!!)but it was awesome. I only wish I had the chance to play more and get some of the books.

Well you are right about one thing. Skelebots are deffinetely evil. I have taken out a good couple hundred of them in my few characters lifetimes. I say few characters because I usually don't go through too many. Sadly, the highest level character I have at the moment is level eight, though that is still damn good in Rifts terms. He is a Human Ninja Juicer and damn is he fast. His Prowl skill is mastered and his P.P. is so high (Physical Prowl Attribute) that whenever he walks, no matter how hard he tries not to, he is still completely silent. As well as this, he is mastered in the arts of Akido and can break limbs as well as dislocate limbs (Prefers breaking) with swift easy movements.
You know, I remember this one time I was running a game where the players were in the state of Colorado and Coalition had recently stormed a city and destroyed it because of way too much Alien/D-Bee activity. The players had decided to try and adventure around the recently-created ruins and try to salvage good items and working equipment. Sadly, three days into the adventure they were ambushed by a patrol squad of 42 Skelebots and a Skelebot Hellion.....the battle lasted for a good two and a half hours, only two of the six players making it out alive....kinda alive. There were still a good 12 skelebots left (The Hellion being taken out by the players in the begining of the battle, it being their first tartget) that were looking for the two of them as they retreated. For the next two days they posted up in the ruins of buildings, one sniping them off with what little ammo he had for his Rail Gun (It was augmented so that it could fire single shots), the other tossing frag grenades out the broken windows at them, him finding the full crate of them earlier. It actually worked out well for them, you see the Rail Gun being used as single shots wasn't enough damage to kill a skelebot, though the force of impact from the high-velocity round would knock the Skelebots head clear off its shoulds, making the rest of the body utterly useless. As this was happening, the other man throwing the grenades would simply toss them at the Skelebots that had no heads, the Skelebots having no vision, therefor being incapable of any type of dodging. In the end, the two players made it out safe and sound, for the most part, then to die a horrible death by a full grown Great Horned Dragon two weeks later.....;)
Here's a good question. What is your least favorite N.P.C., R.C.C., P.C.C., O.C.C. or place/area in Rifts?

You know, i dont mean this in a bad way, but you kinda seem like a player killer. Dont really like the idea of 6 players running into those skelebots, and dieing. Then again, your players could have just been stupid. Ok, heres one for you.
A friend of mine is dming a campaign where we are Juicers for higher. Well, three juicers and an engineer. Bob and his Juicer Junkies. After leaving a small town and a resupply, we were heading out for a mission where we had been commision by some overly rich overy protect Deebee to find some weapons a list. List ended up being about six pages long. Well moving right along here, we were in Xit territory and moving right along. Myself as a Dragon Juicer Assassin, Paul was a normal Juicer from the main Book, we had one Pheaton Juicer driving the Tank, and the engineer in our tank cruising right along through a forest. As were moving along, i happen to spot something in the tree line. Being the Paranoid freak my character was, he pops of a shot from his JA-12, one of my favorite weapons personally, probly cause i love juicers, and hits the thing. It comes flying at my juicer, all of Xitixic of it.
And then there was my favorite Rifts moment. It punches swings with its puny little spear, and punches me. Misses with the spear, but connects with the punch. Now, here i am, a juicer, a Dragon Juicer no less, and ive just been insulted. And remember, im still holding my JA-12. The thought comes to me in my enhanced state, this sumamamabitch just bitch slapped me.....and then i do it. I punch him back. I crit, and roll full damage....no **** man, with the DM sitting like two feet from me, i crit and roll full damage....needless to say, its stunned and does nothing and in the next round, i make its head a goey mess on a tree below where we are in the air. Good ****, really good ****. Oh yeah, and as it turns out, we end up killing about 8 of them, then run into the SuperWarrior whom is beeing all sneaky in the woods, so i light up the woods with Firebreather i had strapped to my back. It comes out and tries to attack the tank, and the Pheaton, i think thats what Kevin was playing, does what they do in vehicles and dodges it. So the super warrior decides to go for paul who isnt paying attention cuase hes to busy inspecting the forest i just nuked against orders of our Dwarven Engeneer/leader not to do so.
Anyway, that was my favorite moment. Others include nuking a small group of headhunters with a Burster, and with the same burster nuking a Psi-Stalker and his pack of Dogboys.
Anyhow thats it from my end, im not that big on the world so i have to say the states is where i like my games to be played. I have run my own game also with turning the Coalition against itself. Players were the Coalition and they were an elite team, part of a 30 man unit that did seek and destroy. Needless to say they were being sent out to be killed cause they had spent too much time with the Aliens and D-Bees. Good game and it lasted eight or nine sessions. Good stuff. anyhow, thats it for me. The Skelebots make for a good rampage game from the DMs point of view, i use them as cannon fodder in my games. Before the nasty **** hits the fan.
Oh and heres an idea ive thrown together.
In my game, i tried something call "Slider Rifts" alot like the show, but with Rifts. There could be the possibility of invisible Rifts, holes ripped in the stream of things....but you dont go anywhere in time, you just go to where things might have been different. If different people had come up with different things and such, only problem is, they lead in, not out. So you end up with a Large group of different types of Coalition jumbled together. Its wierd and would take further explination, it worked real well for my game. Ill explain it later, dont have time now. im out

(DM is a Dungeon Master for D&D, GM is a Game Master for Rifts, just though I might inform you before someone else does it in a mean way ;) )
I can understand that by the amount of that many players dieing that you would think I was a Player Killer. In all truth, it actually was stupid decissions made by the players that died. Just though I might ellaborate on that one before I get started on the rest;
Yes, Juicer campaigns do last long and that deffinetely does sound like it was a fun-filled campaign. Although, I GM my games a slight bit differently. You see, those eight or nine sessions? It just sounds so short to me. I don't count sessions on my games because in a way they are played Freestyle, meening when they go to sleep, they play the next time by waking up and continuing where they left off, unless I decide to pause the game at a dramatic moment for the night to leave them in suspence (That's a keeper of a tactic, lol).
So WOW....I just got back home from ending the Campaign I was previously playing today for the night. To sum it up quick there were two players in my game for the night. One was a Space Wolven Master Assassin (The brand new player that has never heard of the game before hand), the other player being a Human City Trader (The advanced player that is my best friend and 'partner-in-crime'.... ;) ). Anywayz, they had recently been in Atlantis and the City Trader was given liscensed papers to legally be a roaming Human in Atlantis and handle trades for the Splugorth, amazingly. Lets just say he holds an excellent debate, him being that advanced. So the Space Wolven Master Assassin (The new player) is assigned by Splugorth (Him currently being a Mercenary) to be the City Traders right-hand-man, the muscle of the operation, if you will. Soon enough the two of them do a special delivery of 500lbs of 'Fire', a Marijuana substance that glows bright red from its potency that I have created, it being about 10 times as potent as todays best products. He is assigned to deliver the merchandise for a Kreeghor (Race in Phase World) named Mandor to a group of Brodkill (In first Rifts books, along with others) that own their own LEGAL Cybernetics/Bionics shop, not a chop-shop, the main leader of their pack being named Tyreece. The delivery is made successfully, the two of them not skimping ANY of the product, let alone the trouble. What happened on the way of delivery is that the City Trader was driving his vehicle that was transporting the substance, a Nuclear powered Eighteen Wheeler Semi Truck, an unmarked Splugorth patrol hovercraft following them while checking their plates. The City Trader had his right hand man (The new player) take the wheel as he Cyber-Jacked through his computer phone called an Omni Palm Pad into the Splugorths car, his Omni Palm Pad having internet conection. He hacked through the security codes, then getting full access to the vehicle. He overwritted the Auto-Pilot and made the Hovercraft shut completely off, it going 60mph at the moment. The hovercraft shut off at comand, it dropping down onto the street surface, grinding around in circles and smashing into a telephone pole. When Tyreece, the leader of the Brodkill heard of this, he was very pleased....
Soon Tyreece learned that the two of these players were willing to help him with any jobs needed in the future, him then telling him that his crew was planning on storming a local bar called White Swan, planning on taking out a Russain Mafia (Odd that they were located in Atlantis) called the White Claw. The two players agreed to the job, the City Trader being a Sniper for it with a bolt action .50cal sniper rifle, it being loaded with HIGHLY explosive rounds. The crew of a total of 24 Brodkill, Tyreece (The leader), a crazy dope-head man named Fury with a 60mm Shotgun (Personally crafted), the City Trader being a Sniper, and the Space Wolven being extra infantry, all positioned themselves around the bar.
Tyreece, the Space Wolven (New Player) and 14 Brodkill all made their way to the rooftop of the two story bar, getting ready to crash through the roof. Fury stood in the middle of the parkinglot with his massive shotgun as the City Trader (Advanced Player) laid attop of one of the Brodkills vehicles with the remainder of the Brodkill's standing around him with massive weaponry, the City Trader prepared to fire the first shot directly at the strongest unit of the White Claw, a completely Full Conversion Cyborg. The shot was firred directly at the Cyborgs eye, a high (not critical) roll being made, him damaging the Cyborg completely. It was then that Fury threw in a MASSIVE military smoke bomb device (HUGE reactions), flooding the whole bar with smoke. Tyreece, the Space Wolven (New Player) and the 14 other Brodkill all stormed through the ceiling, clearing the Mafia left and right. The City trader pulled off another shot at the borg through the smoke after being hit by an oncoming armor piercing mini-missile (Thank god he had high armor), depleting all of the M.D.C. from the Cyborgs head and dropping him in his tracks. He then ordered Fury and the other Brodkill outside to open fire at the front of the bar. Railguns, Miniguns, Plasma Cannons, Rocket Launchers, Grenade Launchers, Ion cannons, Energy Pistols or all sorts, Plasma Grenades and what not were firred at the front of the bar by the ground squad of Brodkill and the City Trader, the entire front wall being destroyed, almost everyone on the first floor dead.
The best part was when the New Player, of all people, the Space Wolven, saw that Tyreece was hit by a Nueral Mace and was stunned badly. He took the moment into his hands, ripping his helmet off and charging at the Mafia member that did the deed to Tyreece. He grabbed the Mafia member by the arm, sunk his canine teeth into his jugular and ripped his entire throat out, then swallowing it while lopping the man in half with a massive Vibro-Scimitar. It was beautifull.
But then, as usual, the two players thought that everything was safe and over, seeing how everyone at the bar was dead, let alone the bar was barely still standing. DAMN WERE THEY WRONG. It was then that five Splugorth Enslavers (Front cover of the first Rifts book) showed up, along with a flock of 15 full-fledged Gargoyels, all armed to the teeth. Both players barely made it out, THANKFULLY, with some very good and needed rolls, a total of 55% of the Brodkills being shot down in the process of trying to escape. All in all, it was a DAMN GOOD session. I was very pleased, let alone the City Trader gaining a level-and-a-half in the process...lol.
Anyone have any questions, comments or simple things that they would like to speak of about Rifts? Please feel free to, I've just said a mouthfull, LOL!

First, let me inform you i know the difference between a DM and GM, both are the same thing in my oh so wrong opinion. They are one in the same, and if chose to call myself GOD of my games, that too fall under that category.
Second, My sessions are rarely less thee hours. If that is short to you, hey, your a helluva DM/GM/God. For a first time GM, who has only DMed maybe one or two DnD adventures, my sessions are long, intricate, and based soley around plot. Every 15 minutes or so, there is always a new introduction to the plot, thickening so that players have to play around it......or through it if so need be. I dont look at my players as big savors of the planet, hell they arent even a blip on my map. In my world the players are only there as backdrop, backdrop to the real picture. All of games are played off of the same story line, every session having a new impact on whats going on. I never go back to play a game before the current game, would mess to many things up. I have an expansive northern US campaign running right now, time period, pre-destruction of Federation of Magic. Your session seemed fun, but to have five....and im counting the fingers *one....two....three....four...five..* splurgoth traders arive and someone escape.....?

Yes, the two players and a few of the Brodkill, let along Tyreece, survived. A large portion of the Brodkill were taken out because of the delima, the players simply making it out by the luck of three rolls in a row. If they had missed any of those rolls, then yes they would have been shot to shreds. Basically, to make it easier to understand, the players left, one riding with Fury and one riding with Tyreece, RIGHT before Splugorth came towards the bar. So, when Splugorth came the players were performing at full throttel, the Splugorth deciding to open fire amongst the rest of the Brodkill.

I remember when Torment had us playing in that crazy ass plot of his. lol, Flame Guru got his arm shot off and I had to race him to the hospital in that tricked out, bad ass, super car Arata and I spent all of our money on.
Damn... I loved that car...

Lol!! Yeah I remember that! It was a car that costed you guys 1,000,000 universal credits, even. It was a type of two man drag car or something, but it was hover-modified, right? Then you guys were at some get-together market for trading or something where you met that chick with soft red hair, a pair of tight blue jean shorts and a tight camouflague tanktop. She had a tattoo of a belt of .50cal bullets around her bisep and kicked it with some mean guys or something.......but....how did Guru loose his arm?! That's what I can't remember......LOL!

We got caught in some fire with those robo-suit guys. One of them targeted Guru and hammered him badly, the fact that Guru was rolling crap that day didn't help him any. From what I recall, I took Guru in the fastest car available, while Arata and that girl lured the fire away. I remember that Arata left half of them away on his motorcycle, while that woman used the car that Guru had hotwired earlier.

Yeah, the jetpack was good stuff. One of you guys was a Jucier and was hanging onto him when he tried to use it for the first time, attempting to get away from a group of Coalition that you guys had fuewded with. Unfortunately for Guru, he rolled like 98% trying to use it. Him and the Juicer (I forget which one of you was hanging on) shot straight up into the air at abou 100mph, then spiraling as he lost control. He decided it was best to try to land on a nearby skyscraper rooftop, him pile driving into the roof surface, using the Juicer that was clinging onto him like a pillow since the Juicer was M.D.C. It was the most hillarious thing that I had seen in a while, let me tell you.

Yeah, those were good times. So, what is your favorite thing that you have gotten to do in the short amount of Rifts that anyone of you have done? I would appreciate it if everyone replied to this so I could see what you have experienced. As well as this, what is the TOP thing that you haven't done or have done in Rifts, that you would like to do again or for the first time? It could be anything. You see, I am asking all of these questions for input. I take the input from all of you and save it, for when the chatrooms are back up I am personally going to be hosting Rifts campaigns in there, me being the GM. Give me some more input, anything that could be helpfull on your style, previous games or things for the future. Hell, even Ideas would work. Here's an example;
For those of you that know about Techno Wizards, I was thinking about creating a few things along the line of their powers; A TW Magic Eighball (Predicts the outcome of certain occasions), a TW Lava Lamp (An extremely trippy lamp to have in your own house that can keep you entertained for hours), a TW Snowboard (Capable of casting the spell Fly as the Eagle, making it identicle to a hover board) and so on. Techno Wizards in my opinion are just awsome. For those of you that aren't to sure on what they are, I will explain;
A Techno Wizard is a magic user that has a large list of spells, but can't cast any of them like a normal mage. Instead, they 'Encrust' the spells into items through a certain amount of time and using a bit of resorces like gems, credits and other minerals. So, if a Techno Wizard was to 'Encrust' the spell Nightvision into a pair of goggles, then anyone wearing the goggles that had enough P.P.E. (Magic Points) could spend the P.P.E. into activating the goggles, giving them the ability of Nightvision for a set duration. The cool part about this is that whether or not YOU have the spell, if you have the P.P.E. you can cast the spell if wearing the certain item. Since Techno Wizards can't cast normal spells, you can imagine how many TW items they are suited up with for their adventures....heh.

Ehh, i wanted to do a Juicer annihalation campaign....always that would be fun....or play as the Coalition and Go hunting into Atlantis. Again, i havent played very much, havent even heard of some of the stuff youve talked about, but would love to play in a Rifts game. When the chatrooms are up, id be more than happy, just hook me up with way you guys do things with online gaming *never done it before*.
OH OH OH!! Heres two pieces a friend of mine made, one for his TW and one he helped me make for mine right before i left to come here to Okinawa....
One was the TW Remote. It was a today style stereo remote, wired to his Warthog Moto. He had also given it a hover conversion at some point. Now, with his remote, all the buttons did exactly what they meant. Volume up was like more power to your magic or some crap. Volume down boosted your defense against magic. Mute obviously was a silence spell, pause was like a time stop, rewind was slow, fastforward was enhanced speed and so forth. Kewl little item, worked wonders...now for my little contraption...
We had been put in a very high tech campaign, given access to a huge amount of money and lots of kewl stuff. Me playing the TW, i ended up with a Palm Pilot, that not only was where i cast all my spells from, but it was where i controlled two suits of Samas Power Armor that our Engineer had modified, giving them both AI and the controll over to me with my Palm Pilot. Now what i never got to try and do, was while controlling one Samas Suit via Palm Pilot and a head set with goggles so i could see through its HUD, was channel spells through it. That woulda been badass. Anyway, just a kewl snidbit that some of my friends came up with. Wierd stuff but fun all the same.

My favorite thing about rifts, are the high speed chase scenes that you can do! I remember when the coalition were chasing us, and arata blew off the car door so he could lean out and fire at our persuers. You were giving us details on how much our vehicle could take as we made rolls. I was in the back seat, leaning against the front seat, dual wielding pistols and just firing like crazy. My god that fun!

Yeah, those type of scenarions are kinda fun. Reminds me when I GM'ed this one capaign of Dragons. There was a huge fight in the air with my 4 friends aganist a troop of Great-Horned dragons. The scenario was awesome! If it were amovie, it would have been done very quickly. I think that was one of the best I've had since.....as far as I can remember. But that thats the only time I let someone plays as Dragons' cuz they are too powerful....^^'
I played Rifts for about 8 years when I was younger, but lately I've lost interest in it. I love the concept, where you can play any genre rpg charcter, form fantasy magic to futuristic aliens to modern super-heroes. When I first started playing, after years of AD&D, I thought it was the greates thing in the world. I made one character and for years it was the only charcter I ever played.
But then all the newer books started coming out. The South Americas and Japan, Atlantis and Mindwerks, the Russias and, worst of all, the CS campaign books. A new played joined our group, made a level 1 character that kicked my outdated level 9 characters ass. We had one player who literally used 10 books to make one power charcter. It got to the point where a great charcter would become useless after the next book came out.
Now, if the game is GMed right, and the PC's are limited to just a few related books or setting, then it can be great again. But, with so many options and possibilities to power-game/twink, too much freedom, especially during character creation, will lead to unblanaced chaos.

Yeah Meis, I remember that car chase, it was pretty interesting on my point of view. I also remember that you guys took a turn WAY to hard and WAY to fast, rolling the car in the middle of the intersection. The funny part is that the pilot (I forget who) rolled excelent in the middle of the chaos, the car rolling back onto all four wheels and harldy being damaged, just the frame being bashed to hell.
Wow, a pack of great horned dragons? That sounds like it would be a bit crazy if you ask me. I remember one time I was using a character I used to have....before he was betrayed....*mubles naughty words under his breath*. He was what is called a Star Elven Necromance, a very odd combination of an R.C.C. and O.C.C. Anywayz, by the time he had reached level seven he was of EXTREME dark powers, him soon enough running into a Great Horned Dragon. The battle led on for a good two and a half hours, my Necromancers 'Army of Darkness' finally dropping the massive beast in his tracks. Though I had been wounded badly and most of my powers were deplenished, I still had enough strength and will left to raise that might beast from the dead, containing it under my own control. The even BETTER part was that I had a Nazca Line Maker with me, him casting the spell 'Permanent' with mine because of a TW device that we had that would enable us to link spells together, it making it basically as if he casted the 'Raise Dead'. All in all, that meant that in the end I had a raised undead Great Horned Dragon that was a permanent summon, it worked out great for the time being.
I must admit that I do have a lot of freedom in my games, though that is mainly because of the fact that when I am creating a character with someone I am very strict. Certain things are allowed with others, while other things can't be combined with the oposites. It might sound confusing but basically to put it blunt my games are very legit.

Hmmm...
well that is an interesting idea that you have there, Meis. To ask bluntly, who through this thread or anyone else that is reading this is willing to join up in a real-deal high-stake kick-a$$ Rifts campaign in the chatrooms once they are finished being remodeled and opened back up in a month? The chatrooms will most likely be done within the next month, hopefully. You could enter into the campaign, or, if you are consumed with too much stuff durring your spare time you could simply come in and play once a week or so, maybe even once a month. I'm very generous with how much spare time people have, as long as they play atleast once a month. Lets hear it guys, who all would be interested? Whether or not you are interested, I would like to hear all of your opinions on this topic.
By the way, Meis. I took a copy of your Avatar and I am currently remodeling it with some tight image design programs. I will send you the product once it is finished via PM, does that sound cool to you?

Heh heh....I'll join in. For once, I'm able to play w/ people who actually played Rifts before me. Maybe I can brush up my skills and stuff and better understand the game. I never played online before so, you guys have to explain how it works to me. Tell me whenever you are gonna start, via PM. Until then, see ya in the future.....

Cyberknight, not a problem. And the other one, do you meen Techno Wizard? Either way, I was counting last night and there are about 19 Rifts books that I dont have!!!! I was so pissed that they came out with new ones and I didn't realize it. On the good side, 95% of the books I dont have are just simply information and story books. I have practically all the world books, practically all the dimension books, ALL of the conversion books, the Book of Magic, the GM book, ect. ect. ect. so we will be good to go, really good. Lets keep the conversation going if possible to try to attract more people. Favorite villian, anyone? Whether it be a simple R.C.C. that you have faced or a pre-made N.P.C., lets hear it.

I had bought a Rifts book shortly after you left, but it appears I've lost it amongst all the other crap I just found out that I don't have anymore.
Hmm, maybe you could take some free time each day and build a list in word or something. You know, just a list of all the things players will need to make their own characters, as well as some skills and junk. Hell, if I ever find my player guide, I'd make a list.

Just out of curiousity, what are you allowing? And, I think im just going to play a headhunter piloting a suit of power armor of some sort. What all are you going to allow? I have the GM book, the rifts atlantis book....hmmm....think i might play an atlantean.....Oh, anyway....What all you looking for. Im not big on the powergaming and enjoy a good running story without being killed every time a jack into the game you know. Oh, and if you cant, i cant find my Juicer Uprising, if you could send me the specs on a Dragon Juicer, if you get the time, i may play one of those with the assassin template if i find my book. Im out....

Alright guys,
I will make sure to get everything you are asking for under control and explained clearly, making sure that all of your needs are taken care of one after the other with what time I can spare (Which is plenty since I haven't started college yet).
Meis,
the things that will be required for playing in the game are simple.
1. The simple AIM program that you can download for free from AOL so that me and the player can have a one on one conversation. During this time me and the player will spend the time making their character together so that no questions are needed afterwords and complications with the whole creation will be kept to a minimal.
2. Discussion before hand with that person in here about what they would like to be in the Rifts campaign so that they don't get their hopes up for something that is unsure before going into AIM.
Now,
yes Artimis I have a resonable following for making a character;
1. No M.D.C. beings may be created for the campaigns, S.D.C. only.
2. No natural abilities of EXTREME amounts of Bio-Regeneration, the max may be naturally healing at 2D6 H.P. / S.D.C. per hour.
3. (Sorry for the hardcore fans out there of this P.C.C.) The Psi-Ghost may not be selcted as a P.C.C. It is simple to understand, Invincibility is not smiled apon in my games.
Now, I will get to work on having that Dragon Juicer scoped out. If I see that it should be entered into the campaign, I will then take the time to write out the entire character O.C.C. for you and email or PM it to you, Artimis. I just have to refresh my memory on it, ya know?.....Anywayz.....anyone else interested in this campaign?

AIM is just for the 1 on 1 chatting, right? If we use the chatroom, can't you do private messages? Or use mIRC or another chat program to access the chatroom and use PMs there for 1 on 1 which can then be logged for future reference... Just a couple thoughts on that...
Also, Dragon Juicer (AKA The Blood Drinker) is on page 47 of World Book 10 - Juicer Uprising... :)
Unfortunately, it's a MDC creature, with 4D6 MDC regeneration per minute... :(
1. Super Endurance: P.E. is increased by 2D6. The Juicer becomes a supernatural being with M.D.C. equal to his P.E. attribute plus 3D6 x 1O. Add 10 M.D.C. per level of experience. Strength endurance is also considered to be supernatural.
7. Enhanced Healing: Regenerates 4D6 M.D.C. per minute (once every four melee rounds), +20% to save versus coma/death.

Well sucktastic, that is the only Juicer i like. Oh well, question though.
Are we aloud to mix RCC classes with OCC classes? *Yeah im still new to this, i have the books but it works better when explained to me.*
What im wanting to do is a play an Atlantean with one of the OCCs....probably along the lines of a Headhunter. Just wondering. I have other things i will play if not, but thats like the second thing i would want since ive never done so before. And yes, i do have the Atlantis book.

Now that one, I don't know... Can you multiclass in Rifts?
Torment
09-08-2003, 04:55 PM
As long neither of the two have to deal with M.D.C. or decent forms of natural regeneration then any R.C.C. and O.C.C. can be mixed :)
I'm simply trying to give players enough freedom to be able to experience what their dreams tell them to.

Heh...ALRIGHT...I get to keep this computer. Change of plans, I suppose. Anyone of you that are interested in playing Rifts;
Here's the deal. The chatrooms are taking forever in being rebuilt, so what I am going to do for the moment is host games on AIM. Basically opening an AIM chatroom with all the players and we can blast it out there. If ANY of you are interested in playing, you will obviously need to make a character. COME ON guys, this isn't that hard of a task. Download AIM, contact me (look at my profile for my handle), as well as if you have Kazaa go to Documents and type in Rifts. This will search for pirated Rifts books online, download as many as you can. The more you have, the smarter you get. Either way, CONTACT ME.
My favorite location at the moment, personally, would have to be South America. What can I say, I have been slaying Vampyres for over eight years...I stick to where they are most populated.

BTW...Im playing a Psychotic Dragon Juicer who has taken on the Mask of Jason....a simple Hockey Mask. He is obsessed with fighting the supernatural in the craziest means possible. Only has two weapons, his JA-12 and his MDC Juicer ChainSaw. Im waiting on you guys to finish so Tor can start running us. So if you hurry the "insert curse word" up, we could start. No really though, please get your characters done so we can get underway. I know Nyt himself is out because of sickness and school, and Tor starts school soon as well. I myself being in Japan am on anywhere from 11 hours to 9 hours time difference so the weekends are going to be my playing times, maybe during the week if you peeps are up mad late in the morning, or early depending on how you look at it. Look forward to gaming with you....

Ok guys this is what I am seeing;
There have been a few of you that have created chracters, with or without me, a couple of you actually starting to RP with me in begining the first folds of the game. There are also a few of you that have talked a small amount about your character and I have heard nothing of it since. You have my AIM handle, the majority of you have AIM as well, is it really that hard to log into AIM when you go online? Look, get ahold of me if you are really down to do this because a few have already begin to start....I don't want the rest of you missing out on too much.
Then....there are the 'others'. These so-called 'others' are those who have posted, saying they are down to join and what they would like to be...then never hearing from them again. Come on guys, if you say your are going to do something...then do it.
Here's the deal. I have a busy schedule as well, me having my first day of college and all, so I know what it's like now. But, I think you will all agree that each of us has atleast a single hour of spare time a day, no? What about every other day? There has to be spare time sooner or later. What I'm trying to say is if you are interested in doing this, though you have little time...it's ok to just game for an hour or two now and then when you can spare it, it's for your entertainment.
Anywayz, I've taken up enough of your guys's time with this post. Please do reply back and give me some feedback on your thoughts and performance towards all of this. Your GM,

I have to agree with Tor on this one. I have made, and used now, my character i made for this game. Believe me people when i say, you game with me you have fun, you game with Torment....and life is good. Im playing a crazy character here and as an example of the game, ill tell you what happened in our last encounter.
Myself and a few other NPC's were dropped into a forest to find a box and get a mission out of it. Myself and a Psi-Stalker find the box and begin the mission. We get dropped in on by an Elf whos looking for the box. My Psi-Stalker "partner" Gets all antsy and starts firing on the Elf after some banter between it and myself. I calm the Psi-Stalker down and call the Elf down. The elf makes a statement about a Dragon Juicer with a Hockey mask breaking up a fight....and i respond with. "But who sais im breaking up the fight?" And proceed to make him all gooey with my JA-12. Fun stuff ill tell ya. I also know Darkmatter has been run by Torment, but because of conflicting times, some 10 to 11 hours difference between you people stateside and me in Japan, it makes it hard to game together.
I just ask that you guys get done and hit us up with some responses and get this game going, especially on the weekends when i can play. That is really the only time i get to play with you guys being in school and myself having to work all the time. Come on and get you stuff done and contact Tor or myself, our AIM names are up and were ready for you guys to join. Its not hard and its hella fun. JOIN UP!!...Im out...
