Just got it, think it's very very interesting, but haven't had a chance to look it through.
Anyone have any comments on it? Anyone playtested it or checked it out in an actual game?

Interesting idea for a book, but.... I dunno... D&D without dwarves, elves, halflings, etc? D&D with lions and such as the core races? I think Cook missed the mark with this one from what I've gleaned from it, skimming thru a little at a time at the gaming store... :(

A friend bought it....and I think, as a D&D person, that it has its ups and downs, just like any other book

I like it.
The Witch is useful as an Elementalist (Because a Witch can take a focus in Earth, Wind, Fire, Water, Iron, or Psion, each has it's own advantages, Iron is closer to a fighter focus, Psion can cast spells with only a thought.)
Champions are just as variable as well.
The Oathsworn is a Monk equivalent, and can eschew food, water, air and even mortality, not to mention all the other benefits that they get by 20th level.
Akashic are screwy, because they can use some impressive Memory Feats.
Greenbonds are similar to Druids, though there are differences, primarily the fact that Greenbonds bond with nature instead of gaining Wild Shape.
Runethains are different. The runes they use are Impressive, to say the least.
Totem Warriors have great potential as boosters to many classes. (I especially like the wolf totem, but they all have advantages and disadvantages.)
Warmains are leaders and tacticians, well versed in the ways of war.
And the Unfettered sounds fun to use to play a lone wanderer with no commitments.
The races are meant to provide a new setting to play in. Especially if you've grown tired of Elves and Dwarves and other D&D standard characters.
I like the new variety, and want to find a way to play Verrik, Faen, and Spryte characters. (and maybe a Litorian)
Don't just knock a book after paging through it. Arcana Unearthed is part of an entirely new Campaign setting. It's meant to be different. Though I can understand how you might not like it.
