Bonuses for starting fighter?

Whats better longsword, or twohanded sword? THS does more damage, but you need both hands.... you couldent use while rideing a horse...plus you cant have a shild, although its bigger damage ...

Depends on what kind of armor you're going to be wearing, and the type of campaign. I personally always go for a shield instead of bigger damage.
