Please have it be designed for lvl 15 characters.
Suggestion #1: If you have 5 or more PC's, use one of the plot ideas from the DMG - have a dragon polymorph himself and take over the role of ruler of a kingdom or Barony in the area. Use a roughly CR 18 or so dragon, give him a mate, some offspring (1 or two young dragons from a prior dragon mating, and 3 or 4 half-dragon adults of varying levels), and start messing with the PC's.
Suggestion #2: Get the Lords of the Iron Fortress module, and run that at them. Be CAREFUL, however, as some of the encounters seem overpowered to me. One has 3 Blue Dragons, two of whom are mature adults.
Suggestion #3: Wing it for a session or two. Throw some quickie encounters at them (no BBEG's here), and find out what THE PLAYERS want to accomplish with their PC's. Then use that as a basis for a whole series of adventures. This works best when you have experienced players who enjoy more than just hack-n-slash adventures. The players then halp you flesh out your campaign, which helps create that "fourth wall" for you.

If you need an epic plot line, you can throw together some stuff from the Epic Hand Book untill you can find some juciy story to throw down for them.

Or use a movie plot - modified of course. I think Independece Day (the idea) could be used.

Demilich. Easy epic story, obsessed with magic, and since most parties have a spellcaster of some sort, he will probably try and take them out, just to get their spellbooks, this work REALLY well when the pcs create custom spells. Maybe throw in some cool minions too, to work their way up to actually killing the bastard. Nightshades/normal liches/Vampire lords/Whatever you want. yeah, i enjoy running into powerfull undead more than dragons.

Dragons are overused, Send them to the underdark, The things there can make quick work of them if they are not carfull, throw in some greater Cloakers, maybe a doppleganger ot two, a Devourer (Type of Beholder) or a deamonspawn... A few yhocls The fighter wont stand a chance against a Drow scouting party, and the two Rouges MIGHT save his ass, Bows are useless against Drow well cause you gotta SEE them comming first, and if your guys are using light, or carring torches... well ever seen moths drawn to a flame? There are a whole hell of alot of big nasty "moths" in the underdark. do some research.

hmm...... one rogue has a fire melee longbow, the other ice. The fighter has a flame tounge and a frost brand, both swords (duh). And the rogue specialize in archery. Anything that's good against swords? well, i gues i could use swords. The one with the fire melee longbow has two weapon fighting, a rapier and a longsword.

What do you use against swords? You're kidding, right? 2 words for you - Drow spellcasters. Probably the most lethal spellcaster against that group would be a Priestess with 6th level spells. Many of the clerical spells rely on will saves rather than reflex or fortitude. Easy meat.

Or send in the most unusual of undead - the undead Rust monster (or the living one) they only need to hit w touch to rust away - they have to save but use many(12-20) and see the horror on the players face as the rustmonsters attacks anything that is metal and turn it into rust. *Moahahahahahaha*

Nah...I have to go with Thorne and Warhook on this.
Underdark all the way. They'll be seeing scary crap down there they've likely never seen before, nor would want to see again.
Playing an underdark campaign right now at 8th level, and the whole party has nearly been waxed about 8 times...
Although the Major circlet of blasting helps out a lot with those drow catsers, LoL. ^_^

I'm gonna send them in with a small group of drow spellcasters, and then 3 dire bears. They took down a dire bear easy. lets give them that and......... 10 merrows and an ogre mage, and the merrows have mighty composite longbows, the arrows wrapped in cloth, and then they are lit on fire. hehe. Will, robin, Ari, you guys are going down.

But the probblem with that is, why are the Merrows with the Drow? You can't just throw random monsters at them with no reason for them to be together, Your PCs will know you are just mad because YOU messed up and made them too powerfull, First solution is to just put them in the Underdark. It is PITCH black downb there, Elven Low Light vision does NOT work, period. you HAVE to have darkvision, or torches. That ,akes Bows Useless really, at least for them, I mean if you wanted to just take them out of commision, or at least put them in a good RP element and take away a bit of the concentration on fighting. In the Underdark it would be SOOOO easy dude, First, Torchlight only goes like 50 Ft clearly, AND the PCs are gonna be concentrating on the ground, 3 14th level Drow can easily Take them out dude, Actually have a 16th level Drow Preistess adn 2 14th level Drow archers, Have them levitate in the tunnel, make sure you specify at some piont that the tunnel widens out and gets larger, When the drow Levitate have them hit the PCs with hand crossbows filled with sleeping posion DC say 24 Fortitude, the Fighter might make it, but he is stupid if he tries to Fight them to death. Make the Drow preistes cast Web spells and such. DONT use area of effect spells, they are for rookies. The object is to put all of the PCs to sleep strip them of thier items and put them in Jial in the middle of the HUGE drow city... lol, then plan your Epic quest from there, and plan far enough ahead that they can get thier stuff back when they are actually at a high enough level to deserve it. The hardest part of being a DM is rtegualting treasure, if you give them too mugh you will never be able to have a trully enjoyable campain, the encounters will either always kill them or they will slaughter then encounter. Also dont forget the drow get those attacks as suprise attacks so make sure they get caught Flat Footed, adn if they whip out the bows give em a -10 to hit cause of poor lighting.

Actually, there is a plot. An epic plot. They are sent to deliver this book (they are told not to look at it). They basically walk across america to deliver it. However, what they don'pt know is that there is a cataclysm going on between races. no, they don't fight, they run. They are also being tracked by assassins. (the party is 2 elves and a human). And the merrows are taking advantage of this. they know people are stocking up on weapons. So they attack randomly, and usually get good stuff. And they finally get across. They get to the mans house. they don't see him. they find his journal, take it, and decide to leave. They catch a galleon, and talk to the journal. Then they are attacked, and they seek rescue on a lone island. There, they open the book, and it's the spell fly. They fly out (one oruge is part cleric. yeah, its his choice. not to mention part fighter.....)
