Hey hey all--
Here's the deal. I need a prestige class for an 8th (almost 9th) level underdark ranger. As far as storyline and character concept goes, I like the Devoted Defender class, but it kinda sucks and wouldn't be a very good choice. My ranger is a bow fighter, so anything close combat is kind of pointless, and beind so far along in levels, I don't know what I qualify for.
Any suggestions on a class?
Or, any suggestions on abilities if I make up my own prestige class?
Thanks for the input.
And BTW, it's a 3.5 ranger, so keep that in mind for stuff, I guess.

Oh the multitude... For starters you could be a King of Blank. Blank in this case being the underdark. You get suprising bonuses when fighting in your element as a Lord of the Underdark. Also tracking and hunting skills get a nice boost. Very nice if you plan on staying there.
Arcane Archer is also another good one. Take a level in wizard and you get to at some magical bonuses to your arrows. Which is always handy.
I'll post more as i come across them.

Yeah, I'd thought about Arcane Archer, but I thought you had to be an elf to be one of those (I don't have the book right in front of me, heh).
ANd I've thought about the Underdark one too.
I REALLY wish I had the book of Exhalted Deeds...There are some bitchin' classes in that too. *Sighs for lack of money*
BTW, love the avie Tzu. ^_~

Don't meet the requirements for ShadowDancer, else I would go that way. They're super awesome, but it would take me too long to get all the prereq's.

Hrmm...thanks all!
Say, Bjarke, might you know what the prereq's are for the Deepwood Sniper? My friend has my book. *le sigh!*
I appreciate all the input. =)

it has things like being able to nullifing flying creatures/magicwith your arrows, or turning a normal arrow in to a brilliant energy arrow.
the prereq's are
base attack +4
concentration 8 ranks
listion 5 ranks
spot 5 ranks
combat cast, spell penetration, weapon focas bow(any) and being able to cast arcane spells.

no no no...... You need to become a multiclass, not a prestige class. You also need the feat Precise shot, because then you can used ranged weapons in close combat. You should multi maybe an archer. Or multi a rogue. Then shadow rogue. And also get shadow armor.

Double check Order of the Bow Initiate. We have a 16th level Ranger/OotBI in our party who is the most lethal bowman I have ever seen! He gets up to 6 attacks a round (Speed on his bow), and Three of them are at max base attack, which is currently at something like +43. Or he can do a 4 arrow Manyshot at +41 to hit. He also gets a ranged sneak attack of opportunity whenever anyone else hits on an AoO. This PC is the only member of the party who could take out the entire party (if he were, for example, DOMINATED by an enemy). Oh, did I mention that with the Far Shot feat, his maximum range with his Composite Longbow is, umm, 2,200 feet? At +23 to hit? Seriously UGLY PC.
