Gran Turismo 3 Question

OK, what on earth is the little icon in the lower left of the Amateur Level screens. It looks like a picture of tires or brakes or something, and it changes color during the race - from blue to green to red. I don't know what the hell it's trying to tell me, and it's totally undocumented in all the provided books. Once it gets to red, my car becomes undriveable, and it's really pissing me off!

Please dear God, someone tell me what's going on with this before I pull an Elvis and shoot out my TV!

That little icon represents tire damage. It gets worse and worse, and by the time it's red, it is infact incredibly hard to control. What you need to do when that (or before) happens is pit in and your problem will be solved :extra1: Hope that helps.
