My Plastation 2 won't read any of my games. It keeps having a disc read error. My CDs are clean, and have no scratches. I called tech support, and they said to send it in for repairs, but that would cost me about $100. Anyone have any sujestions on a way to fix it without spending that much?

Sending it in is the only thing you can do. First of all, try turning your PS2, upside down after you put the game in. That's a common problem. Or turning it to the side like a computer box. There was a common problem even in the PS where the disks could not be read. Sometimes the problem was solved by moving the way the console stood.

Secondly, make sure you PS2 wasn't in direct sunlight, and that it's not hot.

When the PS2 was developed they did a sloppy job.

Improper voltage, which causes the console to burn out.

The disc tray was assembled poorly, which attributes to disks either not being read, or tray malufunction. And the PS2 collects dust inside too easily.

If it's a dust problem, don't use your mouth! >_< Get a can of air spray, or a computer vacum, open the tray and blow the air inside, just like we had to dow ith SNES, some people told me that worked for them.

PS2 is also notorious for a blue disk problem. Are the disks you're using in your PS2 blue? Does it run any disks at all? Music CD's? DVD's?

There's another technique which I don't recommend unless you know someone who can do it. Where you open up your PS and clean the lens. This usually fixes the problem, but it will happen again eventually.

If "Cannot read disc" error on on the PS2 main screen is what you're getting, try what I listed above. If those don't work, you have to pay and get it fixed.

The door getting stuck is a common problem. >_< And annoying too! But I don't think the door is what's wrong with Wraith's PS2 from the sound of things.

Thanks for the sujestions. I got my freind who knows some stuff about computers to look at it. he thought the lens that read the discs was dirty, and opened it up to check. Sure enopugh, it was covered in a good amount of dust. He cleaned it with some glass cleaner and we put it back together. It works perfectly now.

I have a game {Tsungui Atonement} when I put it in and begin playing the thing makes a butt load of noise, a really loud rattling, noise but the game doesnt have a single scratch and all of my other games play normal only it does it and it sure enough has a blue bottom. whats up??

I believe that might be the blue disc problem. However, I'm not sure. I am certain that your problem is shared by others, Lord of Fantasy.
I experience it only with CD based games. Namely, Tsugunai, Okage, and Maximo. It doesn't hamper the game in any way, its just annoying.
