8's my favorite, but thats only cuz i really like love stories. but, 9 does beat ten in storyline, but, the battle system on 10 is better to me cuz u can switch people. but ten didnt have Vivi, so it suxed, cuz Vivi RULES!!!!!!!
but, all rpgs are good, no one can beat the others totally, they all have an elemet that the other doesnt.

hehe, is Rajun just trying to get people to hate?
Learn some grammar, piggie.
"You're a idiot."?
What a battle, ever time you've posted you just say how bad a game is, have you ever played a good game? (other than bum-darts?)

FFX is the best in the series since FFVII, but that's just my opinion. It's reason enough to buy a PS2. Get the game, enjoy it, and subsequently argue about on forums; that is my advice to you.
As far as RPGs go there have been quite a few disasters that I'll never look at again. Good examples include Star Ocean 2, Legend of Dragoon, Chrono Cross, Saga Frontier, and the cream of the crap, Ephemeral Phantasia. Here's to putting them in the same bin as Dogma and never playing or watching them again.

What's today the 4th? Guess I'm a bit late for the flames. The funny thing is, I was actually trying to find this thread again.
People like me don't deserved to be recognized? Based solely on the fact that I believe FF7 is one of the best RPGs I've played paired with the fact that I don't like SO2 and CC. That's just bull**** Lord Fantasy. From the way your thread reads you're the type who enjoys the gameplay aspect of a RPG, that's your problem. If you want to base games solely on there innovation and mechanics than only games such as Grandia, Star Ocean, and the Chrono series could be considered good games.
That would be a shame since only the Grandia series is the only one of those that is worth a damn, that and Chrono Trigger not Cross.
Base games solely on there story and only the Grandia, Lunar, and a few Final Fantasies make the cut. I take it that by FF3 you mean FF6, personally I think it was great for its time but now that storytelling in games has evolved, it's lackluster at best. Only Celes and Locke transcend the ages.
As you can tell by my post, I place a high value on story. Not at the total expence of gameplay mind you. I'm just willing to play through lackluster mechanics for a good story.
If opinions like mine really don't count. If I deserve to be overlooked because I appreciate different things in a game than you. Then I'm sad to say that you're an idiotic asshole. You're entitled to your opinion as I am mine, without criticism or flames.
Thank you and here's to overlooking this argument in the future.

I try to appreciate everything within a game, just at different levels, graphics and sound come at the bottom of my list, story and gameplay are at the top...

I think if you put your heart and soul into a game you will love it. You spend so much time in the game it feels like your really the main charecter. Like Final Fantasy 10 for instince. I play that alot and I feel like I'm Titus. I feel the pain he gets and I feel like I gain the power has he levels up with the spere grid. No I'm not nuts or insane.

I don't enjoy being pigeon-holed. Not everyone grades on your standards, as everyone doesn't grade on mine. It doesn't matter to me which games you like or dislike, that's your choice to make. It is also my choice of wich games I believe are terrible or great, Want to know exactly why i don't like SO2? i don't care for its battle system, I despise how you have to pick and choose characters, and finally the game has an emphasis of sidequest over story. If these are the kind of things you enjoy in your game then go ahead and enjoy SO2. I don't like them, so I don't like SO2.
A mere poser since I prefer FFVII over almost any other RPG? you say posers are based on the wow factor of graphics. Under that standard I don't fall into the lump. FFVII's story is one of my favorites although its not neccessarily the best or well crafted, that's why i give it such high honor. Does FFVI have a good story? Yes. Is it better in my opinion than FFVII? No.
Consider the analogy, which is better written. Aesop's fables or a modern novel? The answer depends on which you enjoy more. The same distinction may be made about games. Of course there would be no FFVII with out FFVI, but does that make FFVI better? Its a matter of opinion. However, opinion can't count for everything. things like better graphicsand refined playablity must be taken into account. Are fables as well written as novels? No, but if you like them more they'll be your favorite and you'll claim them better.
Don't lump me into the same group as the kids new to console RPGs. I'm not swayed by flashy graphics or cheap gameplay, its the story beneath that makes me play. Hell kid, my favorite series is Lunar. Time hasn't been kind to the graphics the use, but they're stories are timeless.
In closing, I'll label you the mere poser. It's easy to sit back and say that the games of yesterday are much better than those of today. Its idiocy to say that there is no such thing as a bad RPG. Ever play Ephemeral Phantasia, FF Mystic Quest, or, God Forbid, Eternal Eyes? They're pure filth. To say they aren't is too claim that the mentally insane are proper citizens. So stand there Lord Fantasy and carry your banner, make yourself seem an incredible genius about games. However, realize as well how shallow it is to noy accept that most games made today are better than those made years ago.
Nostalgia blinds, you'll do well to remember that.

Ah, well, I'm still a fan for the classics, and I just found a bunch of games North America never got, and they're translated, so kool..... Seiken3 looks fun.... Tales of Phantasia does to, Tales is the Tales of Destiny prequel.

i think this game is underated. i mean the graphics on final fantasy 10 were great! but i really don't have a say in the matter because i only played this one.... but the ending was really really sad. i love the game and everything in it. but the ending made me soooo sad! this shows that everything doesn't work out and to always remember the past. i sound stupid so i'll shutup:extra7:

It was a a happy ending.:) No one likes Tidus. Thats the only thing that held the game down. Was the fact that the top two main characters sucked. Yuna was boring and Tidus was gay.
The rest were ok. Wakka's and Aurons coolness made up for Tidus and Yuna's crapiness. The plot was good but not the best out of the FF's. Maybe like 3rd. I liked FF 4 and FF 9's plots.

Everyone said the ending to FF 10 sucks. My friend Vahn said Tidus is cool if your playing Bliztball but Wakka is gay. Yuna is only good for on thing adn thats only to summen the aeons.
6 mi friends, 6 is the best, and the best that could hapen is a remake in PS6 for the 6

YAH! That would be great, but wait, what about anthologies?
Antology is mor like a re-reliese, not a remake, a remake wold be to grab the music and orchestrate it, recreate in 3D the world and well, its the PS2, make the game motor grafix like the intro in antology whit the exelent Amano designs.
Now that wold be a remake, not a re-release.

I have played every FF game and i think that the order of best to least would be 7,9,10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1 and i should know i love all FF games and have beaten every one. But no matter what i would play all of them again and anyother RPG i have played everyone known to man on any system.:alien:

That's interesting. BUt no, Final Fanstasy is not the best "RPG". I personally think that the best "RPG" (if you want to call them that) series is Baldur's Gate. But if you want the greatest RPG of all time put down the controller and buy a D&D book. Is it just me or do all the derogatory statements about others on this thread are also written by people who have grammar skills of a 5 year old?

Yes D&D is a awsome RPG. and so is Baulders Gate but have you played Dark Alliance the prequel to Baulders Gate for psx2. it is pretty good also. Yes people only have grammer skills of a 5 yr. old and it is stupid that they don't type correctly so they should work on it.
