An age-old war… together we stalk the night... we falter… we die… can we succeed? Or will a new race come to dominate?

Heavy music boomed through the club's speakers and filled up Kali's bones. A stream of smoke slid upward from the cigarette in her right hand, that rested on her bent knee with her foot propped on the table before her, and joined the gloomy haze that hid the dance loft from view. She could sense the aura of the inhabitants of the loft, most of which were humans with a few immortals stalking their prey in the shadows. Across the club, two vampires dragged a half dead human towards the back exit while a third leaned back in his chair and licked the blood from his lips.

Disgusting…

She trailed her eyes up the long sleeve of her blood red shirt, rolling over each of the darker stains and rips forever reminding her of the dangers and thrills of her new profession. The smoky haze above her seemed to curl its way downward as her eyes fell to a booth where the earlier vampire she’d noticed had already attracted a second victim. A girl this time, her eyes were closed and lips slightly parted. The vampire caressed her, drawing her breath into a ragged rhythm with the skill only a creature as ancient as he could possibly know. Carefully he gently tilted her chin back with a pallid finger to reveal her slender throat and placed his lips against her skin.

‘Show time’ Zey’s deep voice in the dead center of her head pulled Kali out of her reverie with a force that literally made her jump. She scanned the immediate area and found the middle-aged man and Caleb. The two were pressed into a dark corner, hidden by the haze and blood lust of the creatures they were moments from attacking. Zey nodded towards her and slipped a gun from its holster at his leg.

She sat up straight and dropped both feet to the floor, crushed out the cigarette in the ashtray on the table and rose to her feet, grabbing her jacket off the back of her chair. As casually as anyone could manage when pretending to leave, she strolled towards the door, passing by the booth with the vampire and his victim. Their eyes met for a moment as he traced the thin blood trail off the girl’s neck, and for that moment, he froze stiff, locked in her gaze. Kali held him there as a bullet ripped through a vampire’s chest behind her, and shattered the speaker in its wake…

A single ceiling fan spun above Kali’s head. Her dark eyes followed its rotation in the vein hope that it might distract her from her rapid thoughts and lull her to sleep, even if it would be fitful at best. A tank top currently replaced her shirt as she laid there, bare arms folded behind her head as a pillow. A single bandage covered her upper left arm. Caleb snored on the couch where he’d fallen asleep several hours ago, interrupting her concentration. Multiple bandages covered his right arm as it hung over the edge of the couch. The raid on the club several hours before Caleb even collapsed to take his nap had gone quite successful. Only two of the other hunters had been bitten and no injuries were anywhere near fatal. Of course, the raid only killed about fifty vampires and hardly more than a handful of lower level demons. Still… a raid was a raid… That’s what Caleb said anyway. Kali couldn’t care less.

Something bothered her though, that vampie she'd caught eyes with. Kali figured he had to be a higher level, older vampire if it troubled her so much. What was he doing here, in this crappy city? Stronger vampires like him usually kept to Herrick’s stronghold several hundred miles away, they hardly ever ventured out unless they wanted a worthier prey, not just some random woman in a club. This vampire’s actions truly did bother her.

Current

2216 AD -Lycans, vampires and the demon hoards of Hell ransacked Earth, wiping cities off the face of the planet and shredding the population. Known as the first wave
Several Months Later - Herrick, current overlord of Hell, moved his fortress onto Earth among the rubble of Washington DC.
2220 AD - First Hunter Stronghold set up in what remained of New York City
2270 AD - Remnants of scientists who survived the first attack set up a lab at the Hunter stronghold to research genetic manipulation in creating a super weapon.
-Result: the Meld, a mixture of various demons, vampire, Lycan and human DNA
-Problem: Melds were unstable and could not be controlled. Many died early on as a result of genetic abnormalities.
2430 AD - Second wave occurred; number of Hunters were cut in half.
Present Day 2865 AD - Hunters have regrouped and spread over the globe and begun systematically raiding various clubs and hangout areas for demons, Lycans and Vampires. They are taking advantage of a recent feud amongst the Lycans and Vampires, with many demons caught in between. As far as they can tell, Herrick is ignoring the situation and keeping any creatures he deems worth his time alive and safe in his fortress. Several large cities and farm areas are currently populated with humans, though they are constantly bombarded with attacks.

Technology
Electricity- Hydroelectricity power plants are protected by the Hunters, telephone wires are still up but sometimes they do end up getting knocked down and that screws up communications and what not.
Fire power - no tanks or anything extensive, bullets are somewhat limited. Weaponry is about the same as it was back in the twenty first century. Most hunters prefer to use the old weapons, crossbows, knives, silver blades, various handguns, or odder ones like axes.

Hunter Stronghold Hierarchy
Council- Consists of thirteen of the oldest and wisest hunters. Most are also leaders of a stronghold. They set laws and regulations, maintain basic order, serve as a court, and various other tasks.
Guardian- leader of a stronghold. Tal an old vampire is leader of the stronghold in New York City.
Captain- They’re in charge of a Guild
Hunter- fighters. They kill any Lycan, vampire or demon that they deem too dangerous to keep alive.
Guild Hunter- A member of a guild
Guild- A small group of hunters usually nomadic. The highest number they’ll take on is fifty.
Apprentice- A hunter in training.

Terms
Aura- Aura is like chakra, it is where you derive magical abilities from. It surrounds your body and you can use it to do just about anything, given the proper training of course. You can use aura to create fire and icicles from thin air, or increase your physical strength, or even decrease someone else’s strength or turn their bones to power. Obviously the more you use aura techniques, the more taxing it becomes on your body without proper rest, and you need the proper training to do so.

Name:Vice
Age: 100
True Age: 10
Race: Hybrid (Lycan/Rage Demon)
Gender: Male
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Occupation: Hunter
Equipment: Flowing Robe, Backpack, and Demon skin Belt.
Appearance: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/mof_gallery/MonFaePG59.jpg

Vice has gray skin with rippling muscles underneath. He has two long arms ending in large hands that drag the floor. Two smaller arms run from under his armpits down to his waist. He walks on two thin dog like legs, and white hair covers most his body, with a long flow of hair coming from his head. Powerful jaws extend from his face, two red eyes sit above a stubbed nose.

Background: Herrick couldn't leave well enough alone. In his quest for the perfect warrior the fool took a group of Rage demons and a pack of Lycans and decided to breed them. Rage demons alone are great shock troops, but with very few female Rage demons to breed with, their numbers are few. Lycans on the other are a dime a dozen, so it made sense to see if the mangy animals could carry a Rage spawn to term. The results were the death of many Lycans along with the offspring. Few of the spawn lived after being born, those that did were wild to say the least.

Herrick decided to "kill" the experiment, and set the fathers against their own spawn. Rage demons care nothing for life, just for the chance to kill something. At about the same time Vice was about to be murdered a slave made her escape from Herrick's grasp. Wanting her head on a silver platter he sent all his warriors after her, including the Rage demons. Vice not understanding what was happining, and only being a week old, followed his kin after the girl. A group of hunters intercepted the pack Vice was running with, the battle left him wounded but not dead. Not knowing what to think of such a creature he was brought back to be studied. After a year of being a lab rat, which in that short time he grew up, the council decided to leave his fate to Tal.

Much to his surprise Tal found the creature to be smart and quick to learn. Two weeks of intense training of both mental and physical proved to turn Vice into a capable hunter. He heals very quickly from mundane wounds. Silver, Lycan tooth and claw, demon talon and fang are the only thing that leave wounds for any length of time. In daylight Vice is blind (unless he wears shades), and his sharp sense of smell and hearing can be overwhelmed by intense sounds and scents.

Vice enjoys his life as a hunter. In his free time he reads what humans called "self help" books. When not reading Vice takes great pleasure in sparring with Kali and the other hunters under Tal's training. While Vice likes humans as a whole, most of them don't like him. The only ones that can stand to be around him are his fellow hunters, though they do know what Vice is.

On a few occasions Vice has lost control during a raid, ignoring orders and putting the team at risk. Tal learned that this especially happened during the full moon, when that time of the month came he would lock Vice in a steel cage. However later during some research Tal found a mixture of herbs that would keep Vice's bloodlust in check during combat. While he takes the "medicine" every month his fellow hunters still keep watch over him. Two things cause him to rage that is known to Tal: Seeing a friend in danger, and taking damage from silver weapons.

IC:

Vice, busy cooking a grand meal for his fellow hunters, pondered where he would find another good book. This raid they went without him since it was a low level raid, that didn't need his special "touch". He was cooking a new dish he read from a cook book, though since ingredients were few he had to "replace" the missing ones, the best he could. All four of his arms worked quickly to prepare the final part of the meal. While he couldn't be with them during the battle, he could at least fill their bellies with some fine food.

"Grub's on!!" he shouted from the kitchen.

He rolled the serving tray out into the small eating area, then walked back toward his room to let his fellow hunters enjoy the meal. Vice was conscience of the fact that when he was around, the stress level in the room would rise. He didn't want them to have upset stomaches after enjoying his hard work.

Once in his room Vice walked about his small quarters. A ragged pile of hay was his bed, and his robe hung neatly on the hook beside the door. In the corner a small book shelf with four books stood silent, each book turned a certain way. He wiped the dust off with a cotten rag, being careful as he went. After he was done, Vice picked up one of the books, walked over to his bed, layed down with a thud that shook the room a bit. His seven foot frame leaned against the wall, slowly he paged through the book, one he had read several times. The laughter of the others would interrupt his thought, and someone would say something that would prolong the laughter. He smiled to himself.

Name: Trish, AKA Seraphin.
Age: 21
True Age: 21
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Alignment: Good (chaotic good, if pressed)
Occupation: Hunter
Equipment: sanctified necklace of a seraphine figure, grappling hook, rope, 20th century Motorcycle + fuel.
Appearance: 5 feet 8 inches tall Trish is a stern looking figure. She has short green hair, icyblue eyes, and a set of tight pressed lips form her mouth. all these features are set in a long but narrow face, wich can be called attractive if you look past the angry look on her face. She wears a long black leather trenchcoat covering a baggy black sweater and a pair of tight fitting jeans. Below the sweater she wears a white T-shirts that says: "vampires suck."
Weaponry/Armor: 33 milimeter handgun, two silver daggers, a small stash of silver bullets, and a small crossbow. Her leather trenchcoat has threads of silver in the neck and seams, and the leather softens up most physical hits.
Background: Little is known about Trish's origins. She just recently arrived in new york on a quest of vengeance. Learning upon arrival that her vengeance had been taken from her by a group of hunters, she decided to join up and help them with their goals.

IC: Walking up the stairs of the apartment building, Trish once again watched if she wasn't followed. There were certain advantages to having a seperate place to stay then the rest of the hunters on the team, but she had to make absolutely sure no-one followed her, even though her instincts usually warned her for imminent danger. She had always trusted on her instincts as being superior to her thoughts and had strangely enough always made the right choices so far. She often saw people manifest powers she herself could not use, but her power seemed to lie in the mental area. She had outsmarted most of her opponents and had been the best tracker of her team. She also seemed to suffer less of the adverse effects from demonic powers, or even "magical" vampiric assaults. Though these kind of attacks left her drained if they hit.

Having reached the top of the stairs, she knocked on the door to Calebs appartment, bowing her head and touching the place her necklace hung invisibly. The brief thought of her team had brought up the last painfull memory she had of them, and if she showed tears, she'd rather not show them. Luckily she was able to repress them as she waited for the door to open. She knocked again, harder this time, just for the hell of it. "HEY! Are you having a dinner party in there or something!" She yelled. She was a fast eater, and she had little to no tolerance for slackers. "Come on! I need my excercise!" She chose her words carefully, avoiding overly shouting about things like hunting and demonslaying as to not draw too much attention should her instincts have failed her. Trish gave the door a final kick and leaned agains the wall, giving up on shouting. If things went well, she would avenge her friends tenfold soon enough.

Caleb grunted and rolled his face deeper into the couch cushion. Kali looked over at him, than back at the door. Rolling onto her side, she pushed herself up and stood up straight. A second knock hit the door as Kali cracked her back, the sound causing Caleb's body to jerk violently and quite suddenly.

"HEY! Are you having a dinner party in there or something! Come on! I need my exercise!"

With a yell of surprise, Caleb jerked his head up and promptly tumbled off the bed, directly on the blanket where Kali was moments before. He was halfway there anyway before he woke up. The side of her mouth twitched with mild amusement as she strolled past him through the kitchen doorway. Going to the fridge she pulled out a bottle of water and unscrewed the cap, kicking the door shot with her bare heel.

Caleb dragged himself off the floor as the door was kicked and stumbled over to it, still groggy from the sudden wake up call. Leaning against the wall with one shoulder he undid the latch and pulled the door open, ready to shut it if he had the wrong person. He spotted Trish leaning against the wall. "Morning." He waived to her casually, all annoyance quickly lost. Out of the corner of his eye he watched Kali walk back into the room with a water bottle to her lips.

Knee high boots, faded black cargoes, midnight spaghetti strapped tank top with a dark silver short-sleeved shirt over it with detached sleeves covering her lower arms. A faded black strip of wide soft cotton is wrapped around her throat loosely which she wraps around her head and face for concealment save for a few strands that stick out here and there and her eyes.

At about ten years of age, she was fed up with the bastard and escaped. A Guild eventually caught site of her Aura and tracked her down. During the time she spent with the guild, they taught her a few thieving tricks. After the Council took custody of her, Yumiko decided to improve on her skills. At this point, she works for Tal, guardian of the closest stronghold to Herrick's fortress. They plan on using her skills to get a heads up on Herrick's current plans of action against the hunters. Yumiko doesn't have too many good morals (or even any morals at all) and if someone were to offer her a better deal, she'd lunge for it.

While the two ocupants of the room were busy, a figure slipped into the room, and moved long the walls unseen. Old curtains fluttered in the breeze as Yumiko let the wind into the apartment, using Trish's noise as a perfect distraction to silently slip her fingers into the cracked window and slide it open. She put one foot onto the sill and stepped off the fire escape. There she balanced herself for a moment, took in her surroundings with a quick scan, and then leapt easily off the sill and onto the backrest of the couch. She crouched there, fingers gripping the cloth covering. And she waited. They would see her soon enough. until then, she would wait in silence. She scanned the room again and sniffed the air, searching for any signs of a recent meal and, possibly, leftovers.

Kali's ears picked up the sound of someone sniffing something nearby, and she stopped dead in her tracks. Body unmoving, her vision shifted slowly towards her right. Yumika sat crouched on the back of the couch a mere distance of hardly a foot away from her. Kali yelped in surprise, jumped back several feet, came to her senses, growled, screwed the cap onto her water bottle, strolled back over to Yumika and brought the bottle smartly across the back of her head.

"Bitch..." Was all she muttered. Strolling across the room, Kali approached the coffee table in front of the couch. Grabbing her jacking she crossed the room to the door. Caleb stepped out of her way as she passed, tossing the bottle to his chest. In the hallway Kali pulled the jacket over her shoulders while she walked and shoved her hands in its pockets.

Caleb watched her leave with a stumped expression. He still couldn't understand what set her off sometimes. Sighing, he called after her "When're you coming back?"

"Whenever.." Kali stepped onto the rickety elevator at the end of the hall and pressed the ground button. The old doors slid closed and with a lot of creaking and shaking, the descent began. Only at this point did reason kick in and remind her that she only had the knives in her boots as protection. Kali sighed and leaned against the elevator wall. They'd have to for now. She really didn't feel like making a stupid entrance back upstairs. All motioned stopped with a sudden jerk and the doors squeaked open. Kali slipped out before they fully opened and started across the lobby.

"Damn...." Xander sighed as his car slowly came to a stop. "I'm still suprised it ran off of that much fuel for so long but still." Xander said rubbing the back of his neck. Looking at his watch not really checking the time Xander gave a loud yawn and stepped out of the car. Going to the back he popped the trunk and pulled out a farely large travel bag. Setting the bag on the ground then pulling the handel up Xander slammed the trunk then locked up his car, he could only hope that someone in town had some fuel.

After about half an hour of walking Xander finaly made his way to the city limits. Pulling out a small flask he took a long drink then pulled the container away from his mouth and started to shake it up side down. Seeing that their was nothing left in it Xander quickly discarded the flask and pulled out a bottle with about two or three ounces of whisky left in it. Drinking the remnants of the bottle Xander tossed it to the side. The bottle shadered into thousands of little pieces as it landed not to far from the flask.

Xander began to walk into to town. "So were to first." he thought aloud as he looked from his right to his left then back to his right. He could get the fuel then be on his way, but why sleep in that old car when he could have a dingy hotel instead. Xander decided to find a place to sleep then get something to eat before crashing for the night, or day when ever it would be when he got back to his place. Walking into the first apartment building he could find he found him self on the floor after bumping into a girl not to much older then him. "Hey watch were your going." Xander said rubbing his head as he looked up to the girl.

"Mornin' Caleb, had a nice rest?" Trish asked in a sneering tone of voice. Then she smiled to soften up the remark a bit and went in, just when Kali left for the exit. "Heya Yumi, spent the night here? or just on your usual routine again?" Being largely immune (or somewhat resistant) to powers, Trish rarely let an oppertunity pass to catch Yumika in the act of sneaking. Offcourse Yumika's natural ability to sneak was still awe inspiring, and so Trish was not always as informed.

Waiting for yumika to answer her question, Trish looked about the room, and chose a comfortable chair to sit on. Training could always wait 'till later.
She pulled put on of her daggers and began cleaning her fingers, making sure not to cut to deep. "You should stop sneaking so much you know. you might scare some people." She added as an afterthought of her question, before giving her full attention to her fingernails again.

Caleb watched Trish enter his apartment and make herself comfortable for a moment, then gave the door a little push and watched it swing shut. Securing the latch he leaned up against the wall with one bare foot against it, folding his arms across his chest with a stern look across his face and one of his hands wrapped around the water bottle. He wasn't in the mood to play with Trish anymore now that his worries were on Kali, nor was he feeling all that confindent in his ability to avoid getting knifed by his fellow hunter. She had supirior skill over his recent graduation from training, and the wounds from last night needed to be taken into account.

"You should stop sneaking so much you know. you might scare some people."

"You certainly scared Kali, thats for sure..." He muttered. Standing up straight he walked over to the coffee table and placed the bottle on its top with a soft clink. "I suppose I mine as well feed you both sinse you're here. Eaten yet Trish?" He asked, passing by here and entering the kitchen. "I'm in the mood for french toast."

~~~
Someone's body crashed into Kali's, throwing her off balance and tumbling to the side several feet. Removing her hands from her jacket pocket to steady herself, Kali scanned the lobby to find the attacker, growling with frustration. She found him on the floor and frowned, raising one eyebrow in curiosity. His green aura flickered lightly around him, marking his race off. "Human... She muttered softly. Standing up straight, Kali ran her eyes over the boy.
She didn't find much to look at, and he didn't have much in the way of manners either. Sighing, Kali figured he'd just cause more trouble if she didn't say something in a way of response. "I was watching where I was going. You just happened to decide to barge in here and ram into me. Your own fault if your head hurts..." Kali left him to nurse his wounds and started towards the exit again.
Character Sheet
Name: Arumei Kahzu
Age: 22
True Age: 1500
Race: Vampire
Gender: Female
Alignment: Herrick
Occupation (see hierarchy below): Assisstant Owner of one of the clubs and assassin.
Equipment: None
Appearance: http://www.music-atlas.com/images/aaliyah_7.jpg
Weaponry/Armor: Soul Chinese Blade
Background: Arumei is a vampire of loose morals and does whatever she wants. At an early age she had cut off the connection with her parents and decided to lived on her own. When she grew up, she heard that her parents were slain by one guild hunter. Angered by her parents weakness and failure to defeat the enemy, she seeks directions to where she would find them and travels to the location. Without asking the help of her friends she is able to kill each one of the guild hunters. Last one attempted to stab her but in the end she was able to bring out her sword and uses her swift attacks to be an end to his life.
IC:
Arumei looked down the lifeless corpse of a man who now lay in an endless sleep. The mark across his throat made way for a river of blood. She has already had her fill for the night. She would allow this foul blood to flow out and dry. Though not only his life was cut short but the rest of the guild hunters that had taken away the life of her parents. Though she cared not for their deaths but was angered by their weakness and failure that they had shown to the others. Walking out of the room, she made her way down the long, dark corridors and to the crazed streets of chaos. As she walked through the crowds of vampires, humans, and demons. She smirked as she soon knew that she would join in on the fun. One of her friends soon walked up from behind her though she took no notice of him.
"Ah so you killed them all, did you? Now where is the fun in that? You should've let us help you, you know, your friends? Some of us have not had supper. Oh well, but you should've made them into us. They would've made excellent warriors of Herrick. Especially if they were all guild hunters. Would've had them betray the rest of the guilds and be one step closer to controlling this world." But Arumei shook her head in disagreement. Her Australian accented friend looked over at her in confusion."Why not? What reason do you have to go against such a beautifully constructed plan?" He asked with curiousity as he awaited her reasons.
"It's simple. They would've killed themselves or tried to kill us. You can not just pick random humans to become one of us. They have to be carefully chosen. If chosen so recklessly they must be persuaded by any means not to do something that could ruin our race. If they fail to cooperate then there fate has already been sealed." She looking at her watch she glared in disgust."I have to go work now. Some of us actually have to make a living in keeping our race content with this trashy world of the inferior race." She said as she walked ahead of her friend. Heading into the club known as Black Blood Ridge. The owner of the place was at the entrance and wasn't at all pleased with her not being her sooner. She glared at the old goat as she walked past him. She would love more than anything to own the place herself. Considering she worked harder than him.
Xander waited for a response from the girl but she seemed to be looking at him as if he were some sort of text book and she was three minutes away from the final. Xander could hear her mutter something he wasn't quite sure but he didn't know if he should be pissed or not, well more pissed then he already was.
Watching the girl regain her balance Xander decided to do the same. As he got up he met the girls gaze and also had a glimpse of her attitude. "I was watching where I was going. You just happened to decide to barge in here and ram into me. Your own fault if your head hurts..." Xander could not believe this chick. "Yeah well if you were watching where you were going don't you think you should have seen the door open." Xander said as he opened his suit case and pulled out a bottle of vodka. "Psychotic, I'm telling you." Xander said as he opened the bottle and started to take a drink. He then walked over to some people in the hall. "Hey do you think I can get a room, and possibly directions to the Guardian in this place?" Xander asked taking another drink.
(Guys, it's YUMIKO. Next one to call her Yumika is going to find a knife at their throat.)
Growling in pain as she was whacked, Yumiko glared at the retreating back of the meld. After Kali left, she dropped off onto the couch. Settling into Caleb's discarded wrinkled blanket, she turned her attention to Caleb and his visitor. "Food?" she asked bluntly, waiting for him to notice her. When the other girl spoke to her, she whirled and stared. Then she turned away again. "Don't bug me. I'm here for something to eat, then I'm out. Caleb, food." When he got up and headed to the kitchen, she followed, ignoring the other girl. She had no tolerence for anyone short of the meld girl.
Once in the kitchen she moved around, rifling through cupboards and the fridge, searching. Closing the fridge door with a packet of cheese and a loaf of bread in her hands and a few slices of lunch meat in her mouth she sat back down and began to fix something to eat. "Well, it's a decent amount of food..." she muttered grudgingly before she bit hungrily into the sandwich.
Name: Kain Iriquois Markeese
Age: 23
True Age: unknown
Race: hybrid; human/demon
Gender: Male
Alignment: Neutral
Occupation: Guardian
Equipment: None
Appearance: (See Public Profile Pic)
Kain stands at an fair 6'2 and weighs roughly 180 lbs. His physique is an lusterous, his chiseled six pack abs showcases firm, defined pectorals along with rock hard biceps and triceps, his physique resembles that of an olympic swimmers more so, he's no muscle head, but he feels that having ones body physically fit is an necessity to life.
His pale silver hair is sheened perfectly along with his cold blue eyes, his ivory white skin gives others the impression that he is an very cold man at first glance.
Weaponry/Armor: Acid edged silver yamato katana,(The "acid edge" isnt really acid, it's just a term that means that the edge on his katana is extremely sharp, sharp enough to cut through thick layers of sheet metal or thick building pillars, all in all...it's extremely freaking sharp...)
Background: Kain Iriquoise Markeese...not much is known about this half breed between man and demon, the only credible background information is that he is the Guardian to Conneticut's stronghold, bordering New York, he is well deserved for the role of Guardianship, his deft swordsmanship is only matched by the calm, expressionless face that follows him into battle.
His ability with his yamato is unbelievable, the sheer speed of his attacks is only outdone by the sheer surgical swipes that he can perform in the blink of an eye, power and speed in it's highest regarded form describes his ability...
Speed...the demon blood that flow's through his veins incites the already natural speed that he already possesses, able to move to one place to another in an literal blur of dark blue for his next attack...
An follower of the sword, and the sword alone, simply not believing in the use of firearms as they show an sign of weakness on his behalf, though he has faced off against many foes that exhibit the use of firearms...though useless...if Kain doesn't dodge your shots, he'll cut the bullets in half right before your very eyes...
Kain is an Guardian clean and simple, only because he has the strengths to attain an position in this creature ridden world known as Earth.
The animosity of his demon blood is only kept in check by the human humanity that runs through him, an calm man can describe him at first glance, though if angered extensively, he will surge his aura unto himself and literally, transform right before your very eyes... http://www.rederpg.com.br/portal/upl...782-vergil.jpg
Kain can't hold this transformation for long, but once he does...stand far away, because all hell breaks loose when he transforms, increasing his already inhumane speed and strength, whatever is in his way once transformed better pray for an quick death.
Many have fallen to Kain's blade, from the large to the largest of monsters that humanity could imagine, Kain has killed it, simple as that.
How an monster such as Kain fights for the sake of others is unknown, whatever the case may be, Kain is well known through the guilds as extremely deadly and smart in the fields of combat, rumors have it that he could be the next one to succeed to the Counsil when time permits...
He is no God by any means, rather an mistake that God may have made by bringing this methodical killer into this world, he kills solely for the preservance of life and prosper, nothing more...
Soft night wind blew through Kain's pale silver hair, the cool wind feeling refreshing to his ivory white skin, he stood there. Atop an 5 story office buildings rooftop, arms folded across his chest gently as he overlooked the small populice that made up what was left of Conneticut.
"Mr. Markeese, it's time".
Kain's human assistant and senior overseer of CN's reconstruction as well as an member of his guild spoke with his aged voice, an polite but scruffy tone that invited an response.
"Very well Bersker, that is all".
Kain's words was like arctic ice itself, cold and unnerving, his words cut audibly through the windy night, his back was still facing Bersker as he spoke his calm words.
"Shall I send for your transportation Mr.Markeese"?
Bersker's voice chimed in again.
"...No Bersker, I will not need transportation for this trip".
"But s-"
"-That will be all Bersker, retire to the Guild, I will be on my way".
Kain's cold voice cut through Bersker's scruffed voice like an hot knife through butter, after he had spoken he unfolded his arms, takings slow steps towards the edge of the tall building, his right hand was resting at his side, his left hand held his Yamato gently by the end of the sheathe where it met the hilt, Kains eyes turned down towards the street below...
Kain let his Aura seethe out gently, his aura glowing an deep blue color, having the ability to suppress both sides of his heritage greatly to point where he could either pass for an full blooded human or an full blooded demon, though when he unleashes his full strength, his aura flares into an extremely deep blue color, signifying just how powerful Kain truely is. For now though, he liked to let his demonic side seethe out every now and then, feeling like an breath of fresh air at times, he had no qualms about being an half breed, having the massive power of an demon while having the sense and knowledge of an human to keep his base desires intact.
His meeting with Tal, the Guardian of New York was routine, being that Conneticut borders so close with New York, it was common for bordering Guardians to hold meetings every so often each month, just status reports more or less, letting eachother know that they were doing fine and well, perhaps share an drink or two before parting ways once more, all routine.
Kain looked at the last glimmering light of twilight, holding his cold gaze until the last beams of sunlight was enveloped in the night, with an deep sigh, Kain turned around and headed to the service elevator, slipping into the small compartment of the elevator and compressing the button for the ground level, the large steel doors slid closed and soon after, made it's descent...
The only true reason why Bersker wanted for Kain's transportation was simple, the border between CN and NY was easily spoken of as not safe, an large concentration of demons mostly inhabited the empty border, watching and waiting for some fool to cross by...
Kain would cross that border tonight, he would come across an few of those said demons, it was almost an guaranteed incident, he'd cut through an handful of them before they'd catch the hint and retreat into some dark hole in the earth...
The doors to the elevator slid open, Bersker was waiting just outside the door.
"Inform Tal of my arrival, I shall be there shortly".
Kain kept his words short as he briskly exited the elevator and made his way to the exit of the building.
"I shall Mr.Markeese".
Those were the last words Kain heard right before he exited the safety of the large building and into the cool night.
Kain's Guild was maybe 5 miles away from the border into NY, his trek would be an short one if he sprinted it.
Kain looked up at the sky and took in an long breath before he focused his attention on the long, dark street that loomed in front of him, Bersker would take up as his proxy during his leave for NY, Kain's expected stay in NY would be about an handful of hours assuming how long the meeting may take, they always vary from time to time...
Kain concentrated gently, focusing on the road ahead...-Kain bent his knees and leapt forward-only to vanish in an blur of deep blue...
With every leap, Kain grew closer to the gleaming bastion of NY's guild...he would be there shortly...
Bersker would notify Tal of his arrival, so far so good...
And im on my way...
"If he's a hunter, than we're hopeless." Kali muttered, letting the door shut behind her. She followed the building's stairs down into the street and turned left, shoving her hands back in her pockets. He sure was something thinking the guardian would risk his life in a rickety old building on its last few years. Tal stayed at the stronghold, unless he was needed in the field, training apprentices. Stopping in the middle of an empty intersection, Kali stepped one foot to the side and spun around slowly in a complete three sixty, scanning every possible crevice in the area. Satisfied, she stopped moving a moment, then broke into a run down another street.
Caleb waited patiently for Yumiko to sit down, then retrieved a stick of butter and several eggs. Putting them on the counter he removed a wide pan off the wall and placed it on a front burner, setting the heat to medium. With a knife he cut a bit of butter off the stick and tossed it on the pan to melt. He took a bowl from the cupboard and cracked the eggs into it, blending them into a yellow mixture. Pulling out several slices of bread and placing them by the bowl he strolled back to the pan, stirring the sizzling butter around with a spatula. "How many you want?" Caleb asked Trish. "Sure you don't want some French toast?" He asked Yumiko as an after thought. She seemed content enough with her sandwich, but you never could tell with women these days.
"I'll have some." Yumiko answered, swallowing the last of her sandwich." "Ten or so is good. I'm starved. I had some errands for Tal, and more today once I get done eating. I'll pay you back for the food eventually," she added, wolfing down a second sandwich. Just because she was skinny didn't mean she couldn't down food like an endless pit.
Sitting back with a slight burp to wait for the french toast, she grew quiet and began to think. Soon, her eyes slid closed and she was asleep. Snoring slightly, she fell forward slightly so that her chin rested on her chest, whihc rose and fell lightly.
When Kain had passed through the border, as if on cue an fair amount of demonic beings were there to greet them...but in return, Kain greeted them with the edge of his Yamato...
Still sprinting forward, unaware that his hair had been wetted down with the dark blood of the group of demons he had purged from this land, no longer slicked back into it's beautifully feathered, spikey look, now an darkened colour...
Kain appeared not far from an old apartment building, now walking calmly through the city streets, he took notice to the dark blood that was running off of his hair, with an soft, Kain ran his right hand through his hair, spiking it in an slicked, feathered look as it was before he left CN, at the same time, an large gout of dark red crimson ran out of his hair as he ran his hand briskly through it once, purging his hair of the dark red hair color that had been drenched upon with the demons blood, now its beautiful sheened pale silver hair color once more.
Kain would arrive shortly, noting that NY's guild was an respectable one at that, Tal was an vampire who greatly deserved the position of guardianship, just as Kain had.
Kain was well known through NY being that CN was so close to this state, he had came here countless times not only for meetings, but as added support for an raid or defense, also taking part in an few training sessions with the other recruits in NY, he knew that he had others to train in CN, but Bersker was more suited for that kind of job, Kain wasn't exactly the greatest social participant, that's why he had Bersker, to take care of all of his public and legal efforts.
He watched as an young woman passed by on an full bore run, only absently noticing it simply because his mind was occupied with his and Tals meeting, he kept his pace slow, he really was ahead of schedule, getting here allot faster than he had meant for, he had a few minutes to burn...
Kains figure walked through the center of the dark street, now passing the old apartment building and heading for the stronghold that held Tal within.
Kain's stronghold was an impressive one, building upon an already large office building, turning it into an gigantic watch tower more so that overshadowed all of CN, it was located in the heart of CN however, he was simply atop an side branch of one of the Guilds buildings, he just happened to be atop the closest one to the border when he had departed.
Kain was growing closer to the stronghold now, already knowing the in's and out's of his pathway to the stronghold, he had taken this route only dozens of times before.
Kain simply held himself silent, the only noise emitted from him was the dull thumps of his boots hitting the pavement as he walked slowly, growing ever closer with every foot step...
"................................" silence. Nothing but pure quiet. Xander loved it, the feeling of being alone the feeling of a place that belonged to you. Moving out of the door way he pushed the metal door causing it to slam right behind him. Not even bothering to lock it he walked over to the kitchen table leaving his bag right next to the door. Sitting down at one of the three chairs he pulled his whip and shot gun out of his jacket then set his jacket on the back of his char. Twisting the bracelet on his right arm three blades came out shooting straight up his arm about an inch or so away from the skin. Then flicking his wrist the blades popped up and pointed forward. He then twisted the bracelet causing the blades to disappear back into it. Xander then checked his shotgun.
A couple minutes after checking his weaponry Xander left the apartment. "So Tal huh?" Xander said to him self as he walked to wards the city strong hold. He didn't know why but Xander never really got along well with guardians, he wasn't sure if it was because they were so old or if it was how every one treated him but it seemed that everyone that he had met didn't like him that much. "Well theres a first time for every thing." Xander said trying to predict the best. As he walked to wards the stronghold he could hear the sound of another's foot steps not to far off. Paying little attention to this Xander continued to head to wards the building.
Arumei worked for about an hour or so then leaned against one of the tables. Smirking a random vampire she held out her hand and directed him over to her. Proping herself on the table as he came over to her. His jeans brushing against her velvet pants as he leaned forward. There lips soon brushed against one another as their blood became interconnected with each other. She really had no idea who he was or if he had someone else. She strongly felt she could have any vampire, human, or demon and they could have her. She stayed away from lycans for fear that they might kill her by accident. Their lips soon parted as he began whispering in her ear. But she shook her head."I must not leave my company. It's bad enough I am fooling around with you. But I must say I needed this." Her lips then went right back to his as he drew her closer, nearly lifiting her up."
None of the other vampires there cared for what she was doing because many of them were doing nearly the exact same thing. There were no rules or policies for this club. The only rule was that anyone not a vampire was either forced to leave or killed on the stop. Which actually did happen on occasion." He soon began to caresss her shoulders as he slowly removed her white fur coat. His lips soon moved down to her throat as she rapped her arms slowly around him. Any male vampire found themselves lucky to be in her company. For her, nothing could ruin this moment and she would allow for anything.
Vice gently placed the book back on the shelf, he sighed a little. The entire apartment was alive with sounds and smells, something that was more common then he liked. He walked over to his plain brown robe, one quick motion covered his massive frame. The door to his room opened causing a burst of air to enter uninvited, the smells caught him off guard for a second.
"I hate cats...." he muttered to himself.
With his hood up, the large, stocky demon stalked his way down the hall. He took up the whole hallway making it impossible to get by. Sensitive to that fact he quickly made his way past the kitchen and to the living room. He would have ran straight to the door then outside to the wide open world, that was until his gaze fell upon the cat thing sleeping on the couch. His fur was on end before he realized. Instinct took over for a brief second. Not only was it a cat creature but it was Yumiko. She played a mean trick on Vice the last time she was here, a trick he would not soon forget. A low growl came from him, his white teeth were now exposed, though no one could see through his hood. He stood there briefly, then spun around toward the door. Vice couldn't hear anything that was said to him, he just had to get out of there.
Outside, he walked down the stairs and out the door. He took a deep breath of fresh air giving him a measure of relief. Removing his hood to clear his vision, Vice looked around his surroundings. A few in the area waved to him, those that knew him. Others seemed to cross the street rather then walk by him. He didn't care, it was just good to be outside again.
"Kali..." he thought.
A small breeze whistled around the street moving some debris. Her scent traveled with it, he breathed it in deeply. Since she was not in the apartment, he figured the gathering troubled her as well. He felt different about Kali then the others, almost like she was his little sister.
Back in the good ol' days, Tal used to pit Kali against Vice in non lethal sparring matches. The memory of their last match came back to him...he walked funny for about a week. She had a lot of rage inside that small frame, and there was honesty in the way she fought.
Another breeze, her scent was gone now. She moved upwind and away from where he stood. He watched the street for a few more minutes hoping someone would pick a fight, maybe the kitty would come down and play a bit.
Trish quickly pulled open her eyes. "Jeez! did I have to fall asleep in broad daylight?" she thought, as she stood up and walked about the house a bit. Most people seemed to have left allready so she turned on the ancient TV, and waited for them to return. It was then that she noticed Yumiko lying on the couch.
Turning the volume on the TV up, watching a Re-run of a hunter broadcasted newscast from yesterday night, Trish ignored the kitty-cat next to her, and waited for her to begin a convo. Hell! maybe she was even interested in a dagger fight. Though it would obviously be a mere spar. Even though Trish would often love to backstab the skinny thief, she was still part of the same team, and so she left her alone.
Yumiko, still sleeping in the kitchen chair snored slightly, mumbling. Her eye twitched lightly in her sleep, and her nose scrunched up. She muttered incoherently again. The sound of the TV turning on suddenly jogged her awake as she jumped, falling off her seat with a clatter. Sitting up quickly, she looked around to see if anyone saw. "I'm going to wait out there," she declared, heading to the other room.
Seeing Trish on the couch, she smirked to herself. Yumiko'd give away her money if she could only just once wound her fatally. She knew Trish felt the same, but it did not bother her. Theives are solitary by nature, and her past had forced this kowledge upon her tenfold. People, humans and demons especially, were to be tolerated. Not trusted or liked. They would save your back one minute and stab you in it the next. Absently, she rubbed her right shoulder, frowning. then she returned to the business at hand.
Quietly slipping behind Trish, she reached over and plucked the blanket from where it had been discarded and forgotten, and moved away once more, to Caleb's room. There, she made a nest upon his bed of pillows and blankets. A few trinkets he'd never notice missing and his money found their way into her pouch, and she curled up to sleep.
(Considered yourself robbed next time we meet. And any information likely to save your life that Yumiko collects is withheld until Tal intervenes.)
Just then the doors busted wide open as a group of five hunters came in. Each one of them seemed like a rooky as they approached the center of the club. The only way she could truly tell was by how they looked so calm and yet fear still plagued each one of them."All right, now if you all cooperate no one will get hurt." Said the leader as one of his friends was soon pierced in the heart by an oncoming dagger. Arumei smirked as she looked over at Mimi who was short but slender with long black hair a short sleevless dress of a forest green shade.
"What was that you were saying? I guess Mimi wasn't listening." Arumei spoke up as she hopped off the table and to one of the other guys."Neither was I." She said as she placed her hand on the guys chest and sent her soul blade through him. Retracting her weapon back into her flesh she looked over at the leader and her smile never faded."I guess you boys seem pretty confident in bringing this club down consider there are now just three of you." As she spoke a metal cirlce blade cut off the heads of one his other friends. The circle found it's way back a male vampire with spiked black hair and dark brown eyes that was stressed in a nice black shirt, coat, and jeans."I guess that makes two of you. Now you can either leave now or die. Though either way you're not going to live to see another sunshine." She smirked as she turned around.
The two remaining were soon grabbed by nearly all the female vampires who had not had their supper for the evening. Walking back over to the guy she was with she looked back at the mess."Have some of your friends and yourself clean up this mess. We don't want to be bringing in any dogs now do we?" The guy shook his head as he walked off.*When will they learn. I don't think that day will come any time soon."Hey Mimi, watch the place, I need to go for a walk." Mimi nodded as she went back to talking with her friends.
Kali slowed her pace to a jog as she approached her destination. A thick high wall of stone surrounded the stronghold, built long ago by some stone demon using the convenient supply of rubble. Stopping several yards from the wall, here or there a tiny hint of movement caught Kali's sight as several shadow demons scaled across the wall, their auras carefully hidden. While a trained eye could catch their movements, if one were to die, the stronghold within would be prepared to meet its killer. One demon paused, cast his crimson eyes upon her, and then moved on again.
Kali leapt up off the ground, her bent toes striking the wall midway. Pushing upward using the wall for momentum, she grasped the top edge, her feet hit the wall again and she used the remaining energy to throw herself lightly on the top of the wall. Dropping down, she landed on all fours, rose to her feet, and strolled across the backyard, once a garden, now barren after last winter’s brutality. A sent of spring lingered in the cool wind, but the new season had not yet affected the earth.
The stronghold was a large rectangular building two stories off the ground with two more below. Several smaller buildings dotted the area among various training areas. Besides the occasional early riser, Kali encountered no one. Descending a set of stone steps, she came upon a steel door covered in rust from age. A single guard sat beside in a chair who merely nodded to her as she jerked the door open and slipped inside. Yellow light illuminated the empty hall dimly, which stretched out before her. Kali followed it, her boots echoing on the floor as she passed an occasional door, all leading to various parts of the underground structure. Finally, she climbed a set of stairs into a large crowded room. Various life forms sat on benches or chairs, preparing or counting weapon stock. Others stood in front of a bulletin board catching up on latest news or on what specific creatures to look out for. Several scurried about handing out mission orders to any hunters ready to leave.
Pushing through the crowd, Kali slipped into a second hallway and followed it to a set of open double doors. A large cluttered table surround by chairs took up most of room. Tal, a vampire holding the features of a man in his forties looked up over the rim of his mug with mild surprise. He lowered it away from his mouth after a moment and watched her flop down a few chairs away.
“Caleb’s presence bothers you already?”
“Far too big a crowed for me to deal with…” Kali murmured a reply.
Tal set the mug down and leaned back, folding his arms across his chest almost casually. “Kain is coming for a meeting; I doubt you’ll want to sit around during the whole affair.”
“Maybe not… But I need a cigarette.” He cast her a quiet smile as she lifted a box from the table and drew one out, setting the end ablaze with a lighter conveniently found next to it.
"Those things'll kill you".
Kain said from behind Kali's back with his cold, piercing voice as he made his entrance, eyeing the young woman and then Tal before he folded his arms across his chest, eyeing the two with silent eyes.
In truth, he had been right behind Kali's footsteps, though his silent walk had not alerted her to his presence until he spoke his words.
Heading to the large paned windows in the back of the large room, he stopped just about an foot away from the large window that overlooked the city, placing both hands behind the small of his lower back as he overlooked the city, he spoke.
"Okay Tal, anything that I should hear about"?
Kain kept his words soft and cool, of the few men that he respected, Tal was one of them, his combat in battle was only matched by his unyielding suave'esque exterior.
Turning around slowly, letting his hands rest at his side, his left hand held his katana by the bottom of the sheathe gently while his other hand remained motionless, walking towards the two now and stopping just an few feet away from the two.
"And who's your friend"?
Not that it concerned him greatly, he was always just accustomed to his and Tals meetings to be private, thats how it always was up until now, he didn't truely care if she stayed in the room while they conversed, though it would probably bore her as they conversed, it was her choice really, he had never seen her before but if she was an disciple under Tal, he had no qualms with the woman.
Folding his arms across his chest once more, he spoke once more.
"Well, shall this meeting begin"?
"I doubt it would bother her all that much if that occurred." Tal replied. "This is Kali, a hunter of mine, one of the better ones, though she hasn't been with us quite as long as others." He sat up straight now, deciding it was best to get to the point. So far Kali showed no signs of leaving just yet, so he simply ignored her for the moment. They could speak after if that was what she came here to do.
"The city's been quiet of late actually, with only a few occurrences usually started by our own raids on small groups here and there. As far as I can tell, the demons have mostly pulled out of the area, which means there might be some growing tension. The Lycans and Vampires might hate each other, but the demons are banding together and causing a ruckus for our enemies. Good news for us, we might only have one race to deal with if a war breaks out." Tal stopped for a moment and frowned, leaning back in his chair for a moment in thought.
"It troubles me though... Other than a recent occurrences where our scout party didn't come back, which means we've found a new vampire hive, they've been fairly quiet as well... It could mean they're getting afraid, or it could mean Herrick's up to something. I don't like it when he's busy, always means bad news for us." He looked up at Kain. "How's your end been fairing?"
Kali's eyes watched Kain wearily as he moved about the room engaging in tidbits of conversation with Tal. It wasn't like she hated him or anything, he part one race she couldn't care for and the other race was a mild irritant to her. She just didn't like being startled by anyone so easily, especially when it was the second time today. That fact bothered her... A lot of things were bothering her lately...
Kali wondered for a moment if Tal would be at all interested in the High level vampire that escaped the raid last night. She vaguely heard Tal talking of Herrick possibly having some kind of a plan in mind. The very name of that bastard sent a very visible shiver down her spine, noticable to anyone who was bothering to pay attention to her at the moment. Her mind quickly came back to reality. If he was causing trouble in the area, Kali certainly wanted to hear about it.
She walked through the quiet streets. Nothing much was going on it was boring to endure such quietness. Hunter activity was nothing and made it seem as though the humans were hiding and were afraid of the vampires. Anyone could control the dogs known as lycans and demons were only a matter of controling becoming extra pawn warriors against war against lycans. She noticed a couple walking peaceful as if they didn't notice her prescence behind them. She saw two other vampires waiting to attack the unsuspecting victims and decided to help."Hey!" She called out. The guy was first to turn around as she brought out the end of her sword as he smashed into the guys neck thought not enough to break out of the blood."Come and get it boys!" She called out as she walked out passed the girl.
One vampire was already having his fill from the guy on the ground while the other grabbed the girl, sinking his teeth into her fresh skin. Arumei smirked as she enjoyed even the littlest of chaos. Even almost tempted to continue it for her time to have her next meal was at hand. She then noticed another group of hunters coming to the scene. They were able to kill off one of the vampires but the other killed off two of their men before other vampires joined in the kill. Arumei stopped and turned aid them. Running at one of the hunters she held out her hand. Immediately her blade came forth and shot out at the guys heart. Holding him in place she sank her teeth into his skin. She could feel the grip on her shoulders lessen as he fell to the ground. Wiping her blood from her mouth she smiled as a job was yet again completed successfully."Good job you guys. Cya later." She said as she walked off.
Kain sighed deeply, overlooking the city below behind the large framed window in the back of Tal's office.
Kain's katana rested vertically on the hardwood floor, both his hands rested atop the top of the grip, much resembling an cane from where he stood.
"Things are unusually quiet on my end, allot of enemy movement has occured along the western border where an relatively high concentration of demons were nesting, I took the matter into my own hands when I left my outpost, other than the nest I took out earlier tonight, the only inclination of foul play has been occuring in this city".
His words were soft and cold as he spoke, now turning around to fully address the two.
"As for the war, sure im all for it if it means that we only have one race to deal with, but that's still besides the point, the last thing you or me for that matter want to see is us being caught in the middle of an war".
He supposed that he should cut to the point by now...
"What im saying is that if one of our outposts get caught in the middle of an full waged war, then that outpost would be decimated beyond regards, there'd be nothing left after an war you see, but...if that war can be moved to an more secure or remote position, then the lycans and vampires would be the ones losing numbers, not us as well".
"And finally, as far as the new vampire nest goes, I propose that an more elite and or seasoned team get formed, not an simple scout party, im speaking on behalf of seek & destroy, I could care less who leads them, though I would suggest that you lead Tal, but I know how much more you are needed here than on the battlefield. And since im already here, and that nest isn't too horribly out of the way, I suppose that I could provide surveillance, in case things get too out of hand for the team, ill come in and aid the team if necessary, other than that, ill be the eyes and ears of the team".
It was an intriguing plan at that, his demonic side was already itching to decimate another foe and an filled vampire hive would fill that pit beneath his stomache, if he truely focused, he'd be able to wipe out that nest but at an great expense, he could get wounded, even worse, he could get bitten. He didn't even want to think about that, and his people needed him for moral support, he was their bastion to safety, he couldnt even think of what his people would do without him, none the less, if the team was indeed in trouble, he wouldn't hesitate to spill the blood of an few vampires, it's been too long since an decent raid, this was the perfect opportunity to see just how good Tal's hunters were...
"Damn..." Xander said to him self as he over heard the conversation from out side the room. Xander never really under stood how he could do such things as hear extremly well or see better then most people, he figured it had something to do with that stupid Aura crap every one was talking about. Xander couldn't figure out why but from the minute he heard that word it just pissed him off, he could never figure out why but he could not really see them well unless it was a vampire, he had no problem seeing those red glowing bastards. Then again he could just have extremly good hearing but it really didn't matter, at least he had it.
Walking into the room he could see the three people talking. Xander was suprised to see the girl from before in the room. "Tal right? The names Xander." He said making him self known to the group, even though he figured at least one of them had sensced him enter the room if not the building. "I do not mean to be rude but I over heard your little conversation and since I might be in town for a couple of days I would like to join in on the little hunting trip you just mentioned." Xander was working out his whole plan as he spoke. For helping in the hunt he could get his payment in fuel for his car then he could be on his way. It some what disturbed Xander that this whole idea was just now being planned out even though he had about five minutes to work it out in his brain while he was out side of the door, but hey that was the kind of guy Xander was a shot first, shot some more, shot again and then come up with a plan one he was out numbered and out of ammo, which by the way he was also low on.
Snapping back into the real world, Xander could only find his surroundings as dull compared the little lala land of stick figures and booze in his mind. With the effects of his brain deadness wearing off Xander started to pay attention to the conversation at hand. Seeing that none of the other three had poved from their positions he could saftly assume that he had not been out of it to long. "So what do you say?" he asked pulling out a bottle of grape wine and taking a long chug giving him a reason to wipe the drool that was seeping out of his mouth. Brushing his arm against his face he put out his left hand the one holding the bottle as some what of a peace offering. Even though Xander was fully consentrated on this Tal, he could not keep his mind off of this girl, he had no idea but he was very interested in her for some reason, and it was pissing him off that he could not put his finger on it.
Kali and Tal raised an eyebrow at the same time. While hers was more of an irritated, slightly confused and disbelief that he could even think of partaking in a raid without being killed; Tal's was that of slight surprise and mild interest. The old vampire ignored the second long laps that his keen eyes spotted.
He leaned over the table a bit and rested his chin on his raised hands, fingers intersected among themselves, choosing to answer Kain first, instead of the interruption. “I’ll allow until noon tomorrow to prepare for the attack. Kain I want you to lead and coordinate this, and take Kali along with you, she'll be useful. Now..." He turned to the sudden intrusion.
"Xander is it? First of all, are you a hunter and who have you come from. You should also be aware that at least half of my scout teams usually come back alive if there is a large den, so this is very dangerous. I don’t need Kali running around keeping you alive during the raid; it’ll just slow her and everyone else down.” Tal finished and waited for a response from the two men.
Xander noticed the expretions on both Tal and the girls face. He had already figured the girl disliked him but he was usualy drunk before they were at the point of slapping him, it was usualy around that point he sobered up before they started to get a little more aggitated. Tal then began to speak to the Kain fellow who was standing not to far off from Xander. Kain seemed to be very strong, possibly older then he appeared the type of person Xander would hang out with if he was younger.
Tal then turned his attention over to Xander. "Xander is it? First of all, are you a hunter and who have you come from. You should also be aware that at least half of my scout teams usually come back alive if there is a large den, so this is very dangerous. I don’t need Kali running around keeping you alive during the raid; it’ll just slow her and everyone else down.”
Xander felt almost insulted at the comment but he was used to it. It was hard being younger then everyone else, some one always watching your back baby sitting you, pissed him the hell off. "Yes I am a hunter and no one has sent me, my car is about a mile out of town and i need some fuel." he said taking a swig from the bottle in his hand. "As for Kali..." he said this very coldly looking at her with a kind of playful disgust. "I don't need any one to read me any damn nursury rhymes, if I die it will be my fault and my fault alone." he said as he turned his attention back to Tal. "Meaning your scouts must not be that damn well if only half come back." he said sounding more then a little pissed, seemed he was a little more drunk then he thought. "So if you are going to worry about any one worry about that half that that you wont be seeing." taking another drink and finishing the bottle off he set it on the desk and looked at Tal staring at him blankly, he would take his eyes off of him only to take a small glance at Kali.
Tal's eyes grew quite cold at the last comment about his scouts. "I'm highly likely to hear from you that you've faced fifty vampires surrounding you. At the very least I can say I didn't lose anyone essential, and since you're new to this town, I'll make very damn sure you ARE read nursery rhythms by Kali." He rose sharply and turned his attention quickly on her. "Kali take him and deal with whatever he wants, make sure he doesn't get into trouble, and put some sense into him while your at it. Now the two of you are excused, Kain and I have some plans to discuss."
Kali nodded slightly, not at all over joyed with the prospect of dealing with Xander. But if it meant she could vent her anger out on him, she'd deal with it. Standing up she strolled over to her new charge, grabbed him by the shirt color and pulled him out the door, shutting it firmly behind her.
"Come on." She snapped, turning sharply down the hallway. And heading for the kitchen downstairs to find something quick to eat. She'd skipped out on lunch when she left so quickly.
-Meanwhile-
Caleb had finished eating breakfast after apparently no one was interested in his cooking. Even Vice had left, though he had no clue where. Going into the living room he found Trish making herself home on the couch watching TV. "Anything happen?" He asked curiously, flopping down next to her, wondering vaguely what kind of trouble his little half cat friend was getting herself into.
"So it's settled".
Kain cut in with his cold voice, abruptly ending the slight tension in the air.
"Kali, you know the other hunters in this city better than I do, im appointing you to gather the most seasoned of hunters, meaning that I want the other teammates to be experienced in these types of raids, I want to be assured that the others know what their doing, also im going to need the coordinates to this place, finally, munition preparations. I want everyone to be packing major influence on this raid, anything that can hurt an vampire, take it, no exceptions, I will foresee the team management until our leave".
Kain's attention then turned to the kid who had joined in on the meeting unexpectedly.
He then let out an deep sigh before he spoke.
"Young man, first off, I go at one speed whenever I lead an raid, it's your choice if wanna keep with me or not, but I solely suggest that you don't lag behind. They'll be hungry when we attack".
Kain said coldly as he began to walk towards the large front doors, but stopped mid stride, his back now facing Xander as he spoke.
"I could care less as to how old or experienced you are when it comes to hunting, all I want from you is to pull your weight when we get in there, I need to be able to count on my team before I decide to lead you guys in there, I don't want this to turn into an blood bath on our behalf".
Kain said once more, he waited an beat longer before he spoke up once more...
"Oh and two more things young man..."
Suddenly, in the literal blink of an eye...Kain vanished before the group in an literal blue blur-
-The sound of ancient metal resounded briefly right before Kain's form appeared in front of the young man...his blade unsheathed fully and was aimed outwards as if he had already finished peforming an strike...
Kains eyes were on the young mans eyes as he spoke...
"No more drinking, and..."
Kain stopped himself after his last word, concentrating strongly before he transformed in an bright flash of dark blue...his full fledged demon form now fully activated and radiated with an deep blue aura...
"Expect the unexpected..."
Kain's voice pitched differently, as if two voices were speaking at the same time, his human voice only touched with his demonic pitched voice...
Kain turned his back on the others and began to walk calmly out...
Reverting back to his human form, he began to sheathe his katana, with an final shink to his sheathe...Xanders grape wine bottle sliced in half as soon as Kain sheathed...spilling the alcoholic grape fluid violently from the sliced bottle...
He'll perform well...when he sobers up of course...
And with that, Kain exited Tal's office without an trace left behind...
Xander had been in his share of arguments and he normaly would never go up in a fight three agaisnt one but he had figured he would not have to deal with the Kain fellow and Kali well she was a girl and he was more worried about her actions then her words. As she dragged him through the hall he just went with it arms crossed. "That was the last of my grape too." he said with a sight as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small flask.
"You know I have seen a lot of crazy stuff in the last three months but..." Xander stopped to take a drink from the flask. "That guy really needs to relax and have a drink." Xander rose the flask as if he was giving cheers. Doing this Xander realized that his hand was bleeding. "Well would you look at that one of the shards shot up into my hand." at this Xander planted his feet so Kali could no longer drag him. Pulling out the piece of glass Xander spilled the containts of the flask on his hand wound. "Man thats good stuff." he said as he pulled out a small cloth and wrapped his hand. "So I guess we should be looking for some scouts that won't die easily huh?" he asked just standing ther looking at his hand.
Kali cast a glare at Xander who she now thought of giving the nick name nuisence. "Either you're strong enough to face a hoard of vampires, or you're very stupid. You're out in the fields at eighteen whether you've finished training or not here, there's just too few of us. You can say what you want about Kain, but I'll take you to the floor if you speak about our hunters one more time." With that she swiped the flask from him with a swift hand and continued down the hall way. "Hurry up!" she called after him.
Skipping breakfast more because she was rather annoyed by Xander, Kali made her way to the front door and calmly walked down the stone outer steps into the courtyard. Here too was mostly empty; the meeting hadn't lasted all that long. Her current plan was to find Vice and maybe Yumiko and Trish. Caleb was too young and she didn't feel like having to keep an eye on him. If Tal wanted him to come along, he could insist it on his own time. She stopped a moment, and scanned the street. Last she'd seen any of them, they were at the apartment. But would they be all there by now? Kali shrugged and started down the street, glancing back to see if Xander was still following or had wondered off to get himself into trouble.
"Yes mother?" Xander asked Kali as she turned around. He knew why she had done so but it didn't matter since either way he would have made the comment. Xander was feeling kind of hungry now and a little more then bored. To pass the time away he decided to go back into his happy place. As much as he tried he could not truly reach it since Kalis words were still fresh in his mind.
He found it kind of funny that she had gotten mad about his comment. He some what could understand why she was mad about it since a lot of people were like that, but Tal said it him self only about half come back alive so looking at the stats you would want to get some people who were more experienced. He was not exactly sure why she felt so easily about Kain, but after that little stunt he had pulled Xander was starting to wonder if he was a Guardian him self. This made him think since it was Kain who said he should stop drinking but like he was going to listen to him.
"So Kali I have a question." Xander said as he walked up next to her and swung his arm around her shoulder. "Now that my buzz is gone I can say this with out being told that I am drunk." he ended this with a yawn as he took a step some what dragging Kali with him. "Tell me what exactly is it that you hate about me?" he asked pulling out a small vial filled with Red Death. Taking the small amout of shot drink he shook his head and threw the vial down. "Oh and don't worry that was the last one, I promise." he said with a small smirk on his face.
Kali cast him a cold glare. "You're a human for one, which makes you an annoyence to be around. Second you were rude about running into me, which creates another strike. Thirdly, you insulted our hunters and made Tal quite angry... Hmm... I don't quite hate you, I just dislike you. 'Course don't go feeling special, I dislike Caleb and I've chosen to leave in the same house as him."
"And..." She added, pushing his arm off her shoulder, not know why she didn't bother doing so in the first place. "I don't enjoy you coming in contact with me." She continued walking until the came to the apartment building, climbing the steps she walked into the lobby and headed to the elevator. Inside she waited for Xander to enter then pushed a button on the wall. With a jerk they made their way upwards. Kali leaned against the wall with her arms folded across her chest and one foot planted against the wall.
Yumiko's ears picked up the faint sounds of the TV, even in her sleep, and she slowly awoke. Glancing around, she'd estimated how long she'd been asleep before slipping out of the room and into the hallway. She'd spent long enough resting and eating, and now it was time to go and do something else. Digging a coin out of her pocket, she began to flip and catch it repeatedly.
Stopping at the elevator, she pushed the button. While she waited she reviewed the past twelve hours, frowning to herself. 'I don't understand... Herrick isn't making any moves at all. Not yet anyway. What is he doing? I know he isn't building up his army, he doesn't need to, not just yet. He hasn't sent too many vampires to kill off any Hunters lately either. Most of the ones we've faced were strays, more interested in dinner than eliminating Hunters...What is he doing?' Her frown grew into an annoyed growl as she held her head in pain. Her head was killing her, and she was regretting that drinking binge before crashing at Caleb's some time ago. Abandoning the slow to arrive elevator she opted to go through the window, making her way across the ledge and to the next roof quickly. Frustrated, she hoped that her informants weren't as off this time as they were last time, when there had been a major attack they'd claimed was not going to happen.
When she landed on the ground, she turned for Tal's place and moved slowly, keeping her eyes peeled for attacks.
'Ping' went the elevator as it came to a stop. The whole time up seemed like an eternity, Xander never like silences and he never realised this until now the first time he was sober since the day he had gotten amnesia. Walking out of the elevator Xander started for his room. "Yeah well once you are done doing what ever it is you chicks do I will be in my room." Xander said talking to Kali as he walked backwards. "Oh and i will leave the door open." he said as he pulled out the key and unlocked his room door.
Walking in Xander pulled out a row of vials containing different alchoholic shot drinks and set them on the counter. Going into the bathroom he started the water in the shower. Waiting for it to heat up he went over to his suit case and pulled out a bottle of scotch. Pouring him self a glass he took a sip. As he sat down Xander turned on the TV and took another sip. After sitting for a while he set the glass down and walked into the bath room. Taking off his cloths he hopped into the shower.
Yumiko finally reached Tal's place safely, and stalked silently down the hall, ignoring all she met. She had no idea what room he was in, so she closed her eyes and let her nose lead her.
Sniffing out Tal was simple, and Yumiko headed straight for the room he was in. When she reached it, she kicked the door open warily, and stepped inside. With a quick glance around she determined it safe and relaxed just enough to be comfortable.
"Tal." She nodded to him and sat herself in a seat. "I've gotten some information, and a few new informants. Want to hear what I've found out, or shall I wait until the next council meeting so I can refuse to share with them?" she asked quickly; not bothering with politeness or small talk.
