Friends In Hell
A group of friends from ~insert character nationality here~ have been living in Madrid (a metropolis in Spain) after some troubles they experienced together in the past (the people who participate in this can mess about with this past, I’d rather leave it open). They get together at least once a week for a good time and for a few laughs and the like. They have saved up enough money together in order to afford a joint trip for a holiday, to get away from the busyness of Madrid. Over many drinks, they decide to go to Sendai in Japan. It might have over ten thousand people, but this was nothing compared to Madrid, and besides that, they wanted to have a good time, not go to some sleepy village.
The arrangements are made and, upon the next week, they meet together at the airport. Having boarded their flight, they are enjoying the peace and quiet of the plane trip, as well as numerous drinks that they snuck on board. One of these friends became seriously inebriated and felt the effects head straight to his bladder. Blinking a few times in a vain attempt to rid himself of a blurred vision, he gets unsteadily to his feet and announces a temporary departure to use the onboard urinals. As he heads off the others, still half sober, joke a bit and relax. Minutes later a piercing scream rents the air, loud enough to cause those nearest the urinals to clap their hands over their ears. Alarm shows upon the faces of the half drunk friends as one of them gets unsteadily to his feet and begins to walk over. After realizing that the door remained locked, the friend’s eyes showed a flash of anger and he rammed the door once, twice and a third time, busting the flimsy lock of the cubicle. He cringes and his face is painted with an expression of horror and disgust at what he sees. The corpse of his friend lay draped over the urinal where he had fallen, slightly on his side from the force of the large gash that ripped from his abdomen up to his neck. The horrified friend shuffles forward nervously and tilts the corpse over for a better look. Having been held in his body by being pressed against the urinal, the open contents of his stomach slide out, slowly at first, then gaining momentum and landing upon the ground with a sickening smack of sound. The still living friend turns around quickly and empties the contents of his own stomach upon the ground, just outside the door. By now a stewardess had come upon the scene and left to tell the pilot of the situation. Before long, some semblance of order was returned to the cabin, crewmen and women going amongst the passengers, calming them as much as possible.
Deep in the abyss (the one with six hundred and sixty six layers)
Asmodeus lurked upon the lowest plane of the abyss. He was the most powerful of all the demons as well as the most intelligent. He claimed all the other demon lords as being under his control, however he really only had Baphomet and Yeenoghu under command, and he was growing tired of their constant bickering and petty wars with each other. His eyes unfocused for a moment and a servant trailed in shortly after to announce the arrival of Yeenoghu. Asmodeus nodded tiredly and Yeenoghu entered the chamber.
“What news of our search?” He inquired impatiently.
Yeenoghu bowed his head in subservience. “Only a small handful of appropriate souls have been discovered as of yet master. They are rare and scarce.”
Asmodeus let out a low growl. “Of all who have tried, I am the closest to releasing the Ebon Maw. I only need a few more. You will seek further, wider and harder until you find me what I seek or I will make your existence more unpleasant than you can think of,” He finished with a glare.
Yeenoghu was well accustomed to Asmodeus’ frightful moods, yet even he trembled slightly as he felt the air in the chamber shift slightly out of sync with his master’s words.
“I believe that Baphomet has found a soul of great importance, one that would prove of equal value as numerous souls,” he announced, a slight whine in his voice. Asmodeus’ eyes flashed in anger and Yeenoghu felt his chest contract painfully, preventing him from breathing. Asmodeus rose from his throne as a deep purple hue surrounded him, wisps of energy swirling about him as he released his power in anger. He stepped down from the upraised dais that his throne was set upon, moving slowly towards Yeenoghu with a terrible rage upon his face.
“You and Baphomet have been a burden to me for a long time with your senseless fighting,” He said quietly, his voice full of menace. “You will cease your fighting from now on or I will kill you. The both of you will be stripped of most of your power. The both of you have at least some skill, enough to get the job done.” Having said this, he released his rage and his back arched as Yeenoghu was flung into the air with such velocity that his back snapped in an instant before he landed far off behind the throne. Slowly, painfully, Yeenoghu rose from where he lay, wincing at the broken back. He nonetheless managed to rise to his feet and shot a filthy glance at his master while he wasn’t looking. He raised a gnarly paw and twisted it in an odd fashion before he disappeared from view, gone to tend his wound at his home plane. Baphomet had already spoken to Asmodeus about this “special” soul earlier and plans had been made.
Back on earth
The group of friends disembarked from their plane and stepped into the airport of Sendai. They could think of nothing else to do under the circumstances save to book a place that they had found in the travel brochure. Leaving the airport, they made their way to the hotel they picked and booked a number of adjoining rooms. The members of one room were awakened to the incessant knocking upon the door to their room. Cautiously, one of them got up and opened the door slightly to reveal a uniformed man who flashed a badge indicating authority. The door was opened wider and he was welcomed into the room. He declined however and insisted that they all should meet outside. Rousing the other friends, all of them managed to assemble outside, half asleep, half drunk. The news they abruptly received from this stranger sobered and awakened all of them before long however. He announced himself as an important authority with special knowledge of the death of their friend. The friends listened intently to his story of the abyss and of the main demon lord’s plan of releasing a creature unimaginable into the world so that he too might escape. According to him, the release of this creature required certain types of souls to be harvested in the abyss; luckily these souls had always been extremely rare. Lately however, there had been an influx of these souls in the world and the demon lord was approaching the necessary quota at an alarming rate. Their friend had been killed by a demon from the abyss, most likely to harvest the soul. The friends listened, temporarily stupefied by these outrageous claims. They had seen many things together however, and when evidence was produced to convince them, they believed.
“What do you expect us to do then?” Queried one of the friends.
“I expect that you will enter the abyss and attempt to retrieve your friend, or what is left of him. We are told that the demon lord has a quick temper, so if you retrieve your friend then we hope to enrage him and bring him out of the depths of the abyss. Operatives are already within the first ten layers of the abyss and we hope to defeat him there,” announced the stranger. “You will be sent into the abyss, however we can not ensure you all arrive on the same level. You will have to find a way to each other or to your friend’s soul.”
((Sorry if the introduction is a bit long, however it was going to be a short story at first. Your character will enter the abyss appearing as their best mental image (e.g. A gun toting warrior, sword wielding hero, etc.). Included below is a list of demons most commonly present in the abyss. You can be inventive if you wish to be and make your own, however my golden rule is no drow, elves or anything directly associated with them. Otherwise, follow the normal rules. You can include a character sheet if you wish, however you will have to make your own. I might join if this is sufficiently popular, however I will GM this one to some extent. PM me to apply for the position of a Demon Lord. And if you've seen this elsewhere then it's because I'm starting to post it everywhere.))

Monsters.
BOOK OF DEMONS
All demons are telepaths and most are immune to poisons. Some are adept at some form of personal magic as well.
ALU-DEMON
The alu-demon is the offspring of the mating of a succubus and a human. They are always female.
An alu-demon demon appears quite human, having very small horns that can be hidden under her hair. Only their rather small bat-like wings betray them for what they actually are. They are not very strong or agile and they are not of the highest intelligence either and is a mediocre foe. They are able to move at approximately 30ft every six seconds or fly 50ft every six seconds. The alu-demon attacks with either her claws or long sword. If she manages to hit an opponent with her claws she drains some of their life force and heals herself to some extent, depending upon the damage dealt.
BABAU
The babau is called the 1-horned horror or ebony death. These horrid creatures look much like great skeletons covered with dark, form-fitting leather. They have a great horn protruding from the back of their skulls. Babau typically have long, wicked claws covered with dirt, blood, and decaying flesh. They are rather strong and have average dexterity. They can take a few hard knocks but they are not very intelligent. They can move about 40ft in six seconds. Babua prefer to attack with weapons in combat, often employing a long sword or spear. If necessary, they will attack with their claws and bite. They have the ability to drain ones strength with their gaze and they are very good at sneaking about. The babau’s body exudes a reddish slime that protects it during combat. Due to this slime, a babau takes less damage from slashing and piercing type weapons.
BAR-LGURA
The Bar-lgura or leaping demon, is similar to an orangutan except for its gruesome visage and tushes. Its hands and feet have six digits with exceptionally long claws. The bar-lgura attacks with its claws and bite in combat, usually with others of it’s kind. The favored tactic is to assault a foe from ambush, with all leaping to the attack at the same instance. The Bar-lgura can change it’s colour to match it’s surroundings at will, similar to a chameleon. They have average strength, low agility and are rather unintelligent. They can move and climb at about 30ft every six seconds.
MANES
Demon lords and princes sometimes feed upon these small creatures, destroying them utterly. Manes do not possess the telepathic ability of other demons. Manes attack with their claws and bite or with a mace. Most of the time they forgo their weapon attacks to use their natural attacks. When killed, a manes dissipates in a noxious cloud of acidic vapor, possibly harming those within around a 10ft distance. When killed, a manes is not truly dead. It will reform at full strength in 1 day. Demon lords, princes, and other creatures of equal power can permanently kill a manes by devouring its physical body. They can move at about 20ft every six seconds. They are physically weak, clumsy, and highly unintelligent.
NABASSU
Nabassu are foul creatures that live portions of their lives on the Material Plane. These monsters are spawned in the Abyss, but travel to the Material Plane to devour living flesh while they mature. At first sight a nabassu is unmistakably a demon. It stands about 7 feet tall and resembles a gargoyle at first glance. It is gaunt with tightly corded muscles. A nabassu has great claws on its hands and feet. Its skin is leathery. Its eyes gleam a steel-gray and its mouth is lined with sharp fangs. Nabassu attack using claw and bite. This is their preferred method as they enjoy watching their foes die a slow and very painful death. When a nabassu slays a humanoid opponent, it can feed on the corpse, devouring both flesh and life force. Feeding destroys the victim’s body and prevents any form of resurrection that requires part of the corpse. When the nabassu feeds it regains health and is able to regenerate lost limbs. They can also create an aura around them out to a distance of approximately 10ft that is able to paralyze it’s opponents. Once a day a nabassu is able to jump from the abyss to the material plane. They are able to move at 30ft every six seconds and fly at 40ft. Nabassu are very strong but they are rather clumsy. They have average intelligence.
BAPHOMET (Demon Lord of Minotaurs)
Baphomet is the lord of minotaurs. He is hated by Yeenoghu, and the two are warring against each other. Baphomet appears as a 12-foot tall bullheaded ogre, with large curving horns. His body is covered with black hair and his hands and feet are broad and thick with stubby fingers and toes. His tail is bovine. Baphomet attacks using his bite, butting with his head, and his huge halberd. He is able spew forth a stream of unholy water around 5ft wide, 5ft wide and 10 feet long. He may only do so every now and then. If he gathers himself for a moment he is able to let out a mighty roar, cowing and deafening most creatures in the area. Baphomet is also able to summon other demons. He is very strong and agile and is also rather intelligent, contrary to his appearance. He can move at around 40ft every six seconds.
YEENOGHU (Demon Lord of Gnolls)
Amongst the ranks of the demon princes, Yeenoghu is one of the most powerful and most feared. He dwells in a great mansion the size of a large city. It rolls across the barren salt-waste of his layers, pulled by slaves and controlled by gnolls. Yeenoghu resembles a human in general form, but only at first glance. His head is that of a hyena, his chest is canine in form, his hands are paw-like, and his feet are pawed. Yeenoghu is thin to the point of being skeletal, and his only body hair is a mangy crest of putrid yellow from his head to his mid-back. Yeenoghu’s skin is a dead gray in color, and it is smooth. His eyes are lambent amber and large. Yeenoghu attacks with his flail and eldritch attacks in combat. When struck by his flail, the opponent suffers from confusion and sometimes paralysis. Yeenoghu can summon other demons to his aid. He can move at around 40ft every six seconds. As a demon lord he is very strong despite his frail appearance and is somewhat agile. He is only slightly more intelligent than Baphomet.
FRAZ-URB ‘LUU (Prince of Deception)
Fraz-Urb ‘Luu dwells on an abyssal plane that seems totally flat and featureless. The dreary place is actually alive to the demon’s wishes, and shapes itself accordingly into hills, caves, etc. Fraz-Urb ‘Luu is looking for his staff, a powerful artifact which is said to combine the powers of several staves and rods. The dreaded artifact was stolen from him while he was imprisoned, and even the other demon princes do not desire its recovery. Fraz-Urb ‘Luu appears as a hulking, 18-foot tall humanoid. His body is covered in short, coarse, blue hair. His feet are broad and splayed, and his hands are large and stubby. His visage is beautiful, but cruel, and the mouth is huge and fanged. Large, ragged ears jut from the central portion of the skull to beyond the domed, rather pointed, head. He has pale gray skin and two vast wings of dull black project from his back. His tail is hairless, from a gray base to a pale blue tip. Fraz-Urb ‘Luu will pummel and bite a foe in combat, or use his tail to slash an opponent or entwine an opponent while he bites and pummels him. One of his favorite tactics, after a group of would-be-slayers has been worn down, is to summon another demon prince to deal with them. Fraz-Urb ‘Luu will teleport away when the prince or lord arrives. He can move at around 40ft and fly at around 50ft every six seconds. He is extremely strong but is a bit clumsier than his fellows and not as intelligent.
JUIBLEX (The Faceless Lord)
There is no question that this is the most disgusting and loathsome of all demons. Juiblex is foul and nauseating in the extreme, reclusive and resentful of intrusion by any form of normal creature. He surrounds his person with oozes of all kinds. It is said by some that all such creatures are his spawn and find their way to the Prime Material by oozing through the cracks of the earth from the depths of the Abyss. Juiblex has no set form. He takes the form of a 9-foot tall column of ooze, striated in disgusting blackish greens, foul browns and yellows, and sickly translucent grays. From this mass protrude several glaring red eyes. Juiblex can spread himself into a vast pool of slime or rise in a towering column of disgusting ordure 12 or more feet in height. Juiblex’s dripping form can lash forward in a fight to cause terrible damage–both from the force of his blow and the caustic properties of his secretions. Once every minute or so Juiblex can spew out a 20ft long stream of acidic slime, damaging flesh, weapons and armour alike. He is strong but is extremely clumsy and can only move at about 10ft every six seconds. He is able to take plenty of hits however. His intelligence is not very high for a demon lord.
KAKKUU (Spider-Demon)
The kakkuu are the weakest and least intelligent of the spider-demons. They are very animalistic and behave much like ordinary giant spiders. Most other spider-demons use the kakkuu to do their bidding. They appear as 5-foot long spiders with bloated bodies and mangy, filthy wolf heads. They communicate with each other using a series of snarls, barks, and growls, or telepathy. A favorite tactic of a kakkuu is to lie in wait on a ledge or outcropping waiting for its foe to pass underneath. When its opponent comes into range, it drops a sticky strand of webbing attempting to catch the creature and reel it in where it can bite and inject its poison. They can shoot their webs up to 50ft. They are able to move at around 40ft and climb at 20 feet every six seconds. They are physically weak and clumsy.

PHISARAZU (Spider-Demon)
Phisarazu resent anything less loathsome than themselves, which is just about everything. They delight in torturing creatures that are weaker or less intelligent than they. Very few creatures in the planes see the phisarazu as anything more than enemies or potential victims. The phisarazu appears as a 7-foot long, hairy spider with the head of a wolf. Two pale humanoid arms sprout from the base of the neck, and a line of knobby, hairless lumps runs down the back of the neck to the tip of the creature’s abdomen. Its coat is mostly black with a green or blue tint. Phisarazu are cunning and merciless; they love a good ambush and freely use their powers of darkness and invisibility. They attack with weapons and a bite, or claws and a bite. They can also see other beings who are invisible. They can move at around 40ft and climb at a rate of 20ft every six seconds. They are weak like all spider demons but are slightly less clumsy than most of their kin. They are still rather unintelligent as well.
SHADOW DEMON
The shadow demon is the essence of a demon imprisoned in the form of a shadow. Sages and scholars contend that a shadow demon is formed from a manes demon, though the high intelligence of the shadow demon seems to put this theory in doubt. A shadow demon physically attacks by leaping at its opponent and attacking with its claws and bite. Otherwise it uses its eldritch attacks. Once per day, a shadow demon can merge its body with a creature on the Prime Material Plane. If the attack succeeds, the shadow demon’s body vanishes into the opponent’s body. The target can resist the attack only if their will is strong. During any conditions other than full daylight, a shadow demon can disappear into the shadows. They always move silently and are hard to hit because they have no physical body Shadow demons are utterly powerless in natural sunlight and flee from it. They are not very intelligent and have average agility and the can fly at around 30ft every six seconds.
ASMODEUS (Arch-Demon)
Asmodeus, the Overlord of the abyss, rules the other demons by might and wit. Of all the others he is the most cunning and artful. His mighty palace rests upon the floor of the lowest rift in the abyss. Asmodeus appears as a very handsome human standing about 13 feet tall. His hair is black, as is his goatee; his eyes burn red. Small horns jut from his forehead. Asmodeus will attack first using his gaze attack, then his eldritch attacks, followed up by his Ruby Rod. If things go against him or he becomes bored with combat, he will summon other demons to finish the combat, while he attends to business elsewhere. Asmodeus’ gaze attack can drain the strength of his victim and slow them down as well as weakening them. Asmodeus carries a glowing ruby rod that he uses to club his opponents with. It is enchanted and deals heavier blows than would be expected from it’s appearance. Once every six seconds he may cause it to spray forth a stream of acid, frost or lightning to a distance of 60ft. Asmodeus takes heavy damage from holy and blessed weapons and can see perfectly in complete darkness. He can move at around 40ft and fly 60ft every six seconds. Being the most powerful demon he is extremely strong and intelligent, however he is not all that agile.
