The Land Of The Night Elves
A night elf of 17 sat in an oak tree. Her long blue hair is neatly braided down her back. As her eyes glide from the rising moon to the forest she jumps from the tree. Her skin is a soft lavender as are her eyes. She wears a light, night sky black gownwith a metal trimming and a blue cloak of Pheonix feathers.A sword clanks on her side, making a rythmic sound of comfort in her pionted ears. From her ears dangle moon earring with silver lining, around her neck a silver necklace with the same pendant.

Alone and wandering was nothing new to Fiveth Farad. His quest to prove his worth had taken him through many places and past many people and relics. As he journeyed the forest, his eyes pierce every shadow, seeking that treasure that lies just beyond grasp. Despite his average appearance there is something odd about him, a turquiose hued aura about him which draws the attention of keen eyes. A sudden noise near in the distance catches his attention; a silent footfall with a metalic ring to it. Carefully and silently he makes his way towards the source. Much to his surprise he finds a beautiful night elf.
"Greetings, kind and noble elf." He says emerging from behind the shadow of a tree.

Illían kneeled, perched, on a thick tree branch. The moon was rising slowly, and he could see well into forest. The he had been suppressing the emptiness within him all day, and could no longer put it off. For almost half an hour, Illían had been waiting on the branch, almost motionless. Around him were the nightly sounds of the forest: owls hooting, leaves rustling, wind hollowing, and small animals running below on the forest floor. It was the last that concerned Illían.
Below, he heard the crack of leaves and shuffling of tiny twigs. Looking down, he could make out the figure of a small animal, probably some sort of mouse, squirrel, or other rodent. With haste, Illían leaped off the tree, falling down toward the forest floor. Before he even fell, his body began to change. His skin started to grow feathers, his legs began to grow talons while shrinking, and his arms started changing into small wings. His eyes started to grow larger, making his night vision better as they kept enlarging. Moments later, a large owl swooped down and swallowed the small creature whole. It took a few moments to chew and swallow, then began to change into the form of a man.

She turns to the person who talked to him. Her earrings clanked and made silver bell tone. She smiles, her eyes brightening "Hello, sir." She thought it was odd to find one like him in the forest but thought none of it. "Now, why are you here on such a glorious night."

Now faced with the serene beauty of the night elf's penetrating eyes, Fiveth found it impossible not to smile and tell the truth.
"I am a squire journeying out of the Kingdom of Charn. My presence in this forest is only a consequence of my journey. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure where I am, or where I'm going, anymore."

The turquoise amulet around Fiveth's neck shimmers briefly as his eyes lower in contemplation.
"Death elves.......sounds promising," he says in a serious manner, with a hint of sarcasm.
"I am honoured to meet you Thera," he says looking up once again to regard you. "I am Fiveth Farad."

"The son of the famous adventuring knight, or is it just Fiveth Sr." she says thoughtfully, knowing a few Fiveths. "Well, either way, I wouldn't go to the death elves.....They bring death, naturly."

"To turn in the face of death is not something I do well," he says, resting his hand on the hilt of his sword. "One lesson I learnt from my years as an orphan is that running from your challenges will only ever make you weaker."
"Elves are well known for their ability to craft powerful artifacts. Elves skilled in the art of death would no doubt house an artifact worthy of honour." Fiveth begins to scan the horizon with a turquoise glint in his eyes. "With, or without your consent, I must follow my path."

Slowly, a dark bird flew down to them. Landing just before the human, it seemed to peer into his soul. After a few seconds, the bird flew toward him. As it was in mid-flight, it started to change. Now walking toward the human was Illían. Once he was only a foot from the man, Illían stood there, and peered into his eyes again, harder then before. After standing there for almost a minute, Illían turned and started to walk away.
A few feet away, he paused, and turned toward the human. “If you go alone, you will die. These are not some fools to steal treasures from. These are a people who are born, live, and die thinking about battle. Learn to jump before you fly, boy.”

Fiveth composes himself briefly, as though preparing to leave. However, bothered by the officious intruder's remarks Fiveth turns to face him. "You speak honestly; of matters you are not fully aware of." His expression appears relaxed, yet lively. "I am well aware of my capabilities, and have seen my way through shadow and mist before. Yet, I would not turn down any skilled companion who would aid when the road grows darkest." He shifts his grip of the light pack over his shoulder. "I'm not asking that you come with me."Through the ruffles of clothing, barely revealed beneath his waistcoat, Fiveth's amulet takes on a green hue. "In fact, I suggest you don't." With that he begins to walk in the referenced direction of certain death.

"Stop!" she yells at him. "Death is not something you can hold, it is something that rests in you. Something that brings your end. Death Elves are skilled in the way of spells. You take one step inside their village you will drop dead." she hisses angrily through her teeth. "Do not go anywhere near there. Now, I suggest we all shutup. A death elf is in that tree." she whispers.

Fiveth continues walking, letting her words roll over his shoulder. He would have left her standing there, but her last words shot down his spine making his face pale. 'How could I have let my guard down in this place?!' he pondered within himself silently. 'Such a warning of my presence would surely destroy all hope of success.'
Maintaining his composure Fiveth pretended not to hear any warning. He continued walking, taking careful yet cautious note of the well hidden death scout above as he passed the tree in question. Calmly, so as to arouse no suspicion, he meandered around some mildly dense thicket, just out of sight of everyone present. There he lowered his pack and began to silently rummage.

Valo had been wondering through this forest for what seemed like an eternity. He was running low on food and water and it felt as if the forest itself was draining his very lfie force. Then he heard voices. Instead of being his usual weary self, he ran straight out into the opening.

Her hand immediantly went to her sword. When she saw that the person rushing toward them was no Death Elf she pressed her pionter finger to her lips to gesture him to be quite. She slowly draws her sword and jumps in the tree. She slashes madly at the Death Elf, it skillfully dodging and parrying. "Hello cousin!" she says as she strikes the Death Elfs side. The Death Elf laughs, a cold hallow sound "Hello...Thera!" She stops for one moment, a moment to long and her strikes her arm. She laughs through the sharp pain and then she says slowly "Never thought I would see you agian Dalin!"

Hidden in the brush, Fiveth quickly finds what he is looking for. He slides a small casual looking vial out of his pack. His plans, however, are abruptly altered by Thera's antics. Seeing her attack as an opportunity to catch the scout off guard, Fiveth quickly prepares two small shuriekens which were carefully concealed under his belt. Carefully opening the vial, he dips the tips of the shuriekens in the translucent red liquid. He slowly creeps around to the tree, making sure to remain concealed. Intently he watches the brief battle, listening to the swordplay banter, waiting for his opportunity.
'Cousins!?' he suddenly thinks to himself. His mind races, undecided on the next appropriate course of action. His amulet pulses through various colours of the spectrum. Considerations on the various outcomes of the situation and the people whom they effect, flash in his mind. Suddenly he becomes aware of himself once again, and with that the solemn creed with which he initially set out. Rolling through orange and solidifying on red, Fiveth's amulet rests, his mind decided. 'If I allow the chance of this elf walking away, he will ruin everything.' With a shot so precise that it appeared aided by some outside force, he released the two shuriekens into the tree. The unsuspecting Dalin did not even have the time to fully turn and regard this new threat before it was upon him. His body slumps out of the tree and lands with a dull thud on the dirt below. An expression of shock remained on his face as though he were still trying to see the shuriekens embedded in him. One barely inside his cheek, the other deeply lodged in his throat.
Moments later, Fiveth emerged from behind the tree with his pack over his shoulder. He calmly walks up to the dead elf and places his foot on the corpse's helm. Reaching down he pulls the shuriekens out of the cadaver and wipes them off on its inner tunic before concealing them. Without word or hesitation he removes the helmet and begins unbuckling the armour.

"What the he**!" she yells at him. Her face the picture of hatred. "You just killed my cousin! He was a traitor but he didn't deserve to bew killed!" she yells, her vioce getting louder and louder. Suddenly her vioce turns to mourning wials. "I had a chance to return him to the moon! To let him live!" she cries out. "And you ruined it!" The tears running down her face turned into moon pearls the moment they touch the ground. She closes her eyes tilts her head to the left. Her breathing slowly returns to normal. She begins to collect the moon pearls. She sighs "All is well." she says, her vioce shuddering slightly "I am not going to destroy anything anyway."

Illían stood and watched the battle. He could see everything, but he could not interfere. Long ago, he was told to protect the forest as best he could, and not to interfere in the affairs of men or elves. Although he was in service of the Priestess of the Moon, he was not told to help, and so he could not help. But I should have stopped the human... Illían saw the man wander off, and knew he could kill Dalin, but the forest forbad him to interfere. He knew this, but it didn’t make watching a fellow elf pleasant, no matter how much changed he was. I should have...
As Illían started for Thera, he caught the human out of the corner of his eye. While Thera was yelling at him, he dared to desecrate and loot a corpse? A new angry fueled him, forcing him to disregard his duty. Slowly, the earth beneath the body began to lower, as Illían made his way to the human.
His face full of disgust, he began to scream at the man, “How dare you! Get away from the body, fool! You had no right to interfere, and you have to right to desecrate the corpse!”

"That is the corpse of an elf none the less!" she yells as she puts the moon pearls in a pack on her hip. "You cannot do such a thing!" She reaches her hand to her sword and brings it out. It glowed in the moonlight, she held it high, her face a picture of mourning hatred.

Fiveth's amulet shone a deep red as it hung down out of his now open waistcoat. As he removed his coat and stuffed it into his pack he heard Thera's voice. Her words rang clear in his mind. With a quick shudder, the blank expression on Fiveth's face lifted; his amulet now filled with blue. A sombre silence befell him as he took in the resulting outcome of his actions from a new perspective.
He turned to Thera with an expression of empathetic regret on his face. Indeed, he felt sorry for her loss. Looking into her sorrowed yet anger-filled eyes her pain briefly became his. He suddenly became aware of the second set of angry eyes moving towards him. His expression instantly changed.
You briefly catch a glimpse of his oranging amulet he quickly turns and begins covering himself in death elf armour. "You said it yourself, to be in the presence of a Death Elf is certain death. He would have wished no better upon you." He bent down to pick up the helmet but became suddenly aware of the malice in the stranger's voice. He stood up and turned to face him, resting his hand on the hilt of his sword. Fiveth, who was unwilling to provoke further violence, stood and awaited the moment to present itself. His amulet now covered, his face now calm.

With a scone on his face, Illían begins to change again. This time, rather then growing smaller, he became larger. His face became outstreched, resembling a snout, and his body began to grow fur. Within moments, the once daunting night elf became a giant, ferocious bear.
Seeing that this man was unimpressed, Illían threw back his head, letting out a terrifing roar. Thought the forest around them, similar roars could be hear in return. Many of which seemed to be converging on them.
Looking dead into the human's eyes, Illían roared a warning to him one last time. "Fool! This is your last chance, return his possessions or feel Elven justice!"
By now, the body of the dead elf was below the ground, in what seemed to be a grave with black flowers marking the head.

Peering curiously at the mysterious elven stranger, Fiveth briefly considers his words. The anger in the bear's eyes, and the menacing glint of Thera's sword told him that he was no longer welcome. He bent down and placed the tips of his fingers into the soil where the body lay mere moments before. Considering his options Fiveth clearly saw that his survival was no longer desired amongst his current company. Looking up to his most recent threat, a look of instinctual certainty overtook him. His fingers tightened their new-found grip on the rim of the helm. Then, with a leap so rapid and spanning that it was clearly beyond the capabilities of mere muscle--whether human or elven--he was propelled into distant tree branches. Covering great distances with even greater speed, he was soon very near the end of the forest, and the beginning of the bog.

Roaring again, Illían attempted to update the bears he recently summoned to aid him. Returning satisfactory roars, he began to chase after the human and Thera. After a few feet, he was Elven again, but instead of take off, he toppled over in pain. Clutching his sides, Illían began to breathe heavily, his eyes wide, full with agony. Manipulating the ground usually did not affect him, but this was different. He wasn’t fighting for the forest, but for himself and his Priestess. This time, without the aid of the forest, forcing his will upon the Earth itself took it’s toll.
Straining to get up, Illían began to force his breathing to be calmer. Still clutching his side, he took off after the two, hoping to catch up. I’ll have to hold back, he thought, grinding his teeth. I can’t will the forest to help me, but I can still speak to the animals. Hopefully they will help. Focusing his mind against the pain, he began to imagine himself becoming a raven, and as he thought it, his body began to change, lessening his pain. Illían flew into the skies, searching through the treetops to find the fugitive human.
